sorry if in wrong spot, wasnt too sure where to post this..

my ds1 (4) goes to pre prep. he got sent an invitation home on monday for their end of year xmas party.

its at a waterslide park/aquatic centre, which i think will be heaps of fun.

only trouble is, is that it starts at 6PM

6pm -10pm

does anyone think this is a bit odd? i know its only 1 night and all, but my 4yr old is usually in bed asleep by 7pm!

i know that they would have it at these hours cause parents work, but what about putting it on a weekend instead..

hmm..anyone with me? :)

Bit odd of a time to have it finish..

Maybe just stay for a couple of hours?

Our pre-school has done something similar for the last few years. I had no problem in DD staying up a little later for a special occasion. We wouldn't have gone if it was the weekend to be honest.

GAWD forget the four year old I am usually in bed by 8  I wouldn't be able to make it myself!!

its a shame I guess it couldnt start from earlier and finish earlier but I guess its too hard for them to manage who would stay at the centre etc...

phew am glad Milan isnt at that age yet

i think 10 is a bit late:yes: maybe 6-8 would have been enough

but i do have to say its pretty much impossible to have it during the day when the centres open, so they would have to have it after 6 when the centres closed:yes::yes: also for parents who work late.

also i guess they figure on the weekend heaps of people would have things on etc:)

i'd go just for a few hours im sure not many would stay after 9ish

i thought a 10pm finish was a bit late too! the kids ages range from 1yr old to 5yrs old.

i can just imagine all the kids having monumental tired breakdowns at the swimming pool  id hate to be the lifeguards on duty that night!!! lol

i think we will go and probably stay a hour or so..

thanks for the replies!

i think you will find that most people would probably only stay a couple hours.
I work in a child care centre and its really hard to find a time to do these parties. You can't do them within centre hours, you have to allow people time to get home from work and get ready, and no1 wants to give up time on their weekend for it (staff or parents!). !

Perhaps they have said until 10 because they have to book for a set number of hours?? I know we wanted ours 6-8pm but had to extend at least till 8.30pm coz the band we hire does 3hr min but will be kind to us and just do 2.5hrs but no less.

i do agree 10 is very late for 1-5 year old age group i cant imagine kids needing more than 2, 3 hours in a pool without being so tired ESPECIALLY if theve had a day at child care:laughing:

i think its a good idea just to go for a few hours:yes:
