Nope never did anything like that before I started. VERY WEIRD!!!!
Did they say why they are doing it now?
I did this course but I applied for it through QTAC as the one I did was the Cert III combined with the Diploma which followed on to a Bachelor at QUT. When I started this course there was a very, very, basic literacy and numeracy test.

Literacy & Numeracy Test*
This test is designed to ensure that applicants have the skills necessary to complete a course at Certificate III standard. thats off the tafe's site :confused:
and then it goes on to say on the site the next round is for short listed applicants and its interviews
nterview*
*Shortlisted applicants only.
Applicants will be requested to attend an interview where they will be required to demonstrate:
• Ability to work effectively with young children and their families;
• Previous experience, knowledge of and interest in child care;
• Communication and inter-personal skills;
• Organisation/presentation skills.
Applicants who fail to attend a scheduled interview will not be considered for selection. is it just me or is this tafe making it hard for people to do this course lol

That sounds really silly! I thought only international/english second language students had to do that. If you passed year 12 chances are you are ok in literacy and numeracy for crying out loud. It sounds so silly!

i told DP about the compulsory test while we went to get my Quickeze (for reflux/heartburn) and he laughed and said it was funny. as far as i know there arent too many international students ever at my local tafe. i think the most they had at once was 2 yrs ago and that was 10 and their english was better then mine lol
If you have to do it, don't stress, it is very very basic.
