My DD suffered from eczema from birth then it got worse when she turned two. We went to see an allergyst who cleared her from the usual suspects (grass, peanuts, dust mites etc) and said it was just bad luck that she had this condition but he did bring up another issue that we didn't think of and that was she was also suffering from hives which we were mistaking for eczema. We couldn't really pick it out as the 'eczema' was all over her body at the time so that was what we were treating her for. When DD turned three her eczema vertaully disappeared but still has the occational attack on her hands and legs (everyone kept telling us she'd grow out of it - we are hoping this is happening).

Has anyone else mentioned hives to you as parents of eczema suffers as it came as a complete surprise to us. We notice she gets hives in warmer weather and are able to treat her with antihistamines.

hi,
with my DS 2yrs his eczema breaks out as well as hives when he eats eggs. the 3 things that usually go togetherare eczema, hayfever and asthma so they are all pretty much allergy related.
