hello ladies
this is the 2nd time ive posted this i tried posting it with a poll but it wouldnt work...
now this is what I would like to know...
Did your babies either;
A) Get bigger with each subsequent baby
B) Get smaller after each subsequent baby
C) Had a combination of both first big then small, big etc babies? or the other way...
I would love to hear your answers!
Ive heard that each baby gets bigger with each subsequent child, well my last baby was 10 lbs 13 oz 40 cm head, which was bigger than my 1st at 10 lbs 2 oz 38cm head, I dont want another c section and I know my only true way of avoiding this is if my next bub was magically somehow smaller...
I would like to hear from mums who have had bubs to the same father too, or if it wasnt just advise so , so I know. all of mine were to the same dad, same as this one, so I think Im in for it!

i have two sons to my DF.
my first was born 7pound7 and 52cms long
my second was born 7 pound 5 and 51.5cms long.
both born at 39weeks gestation.
My first was 9lb 1oz and 56.5cm long. HC -37cm.
Second 10lb 2oz, 54cm long. HC 36.5cm.
No. 3 is due in 10 days so I'll know soon how big he is. My first two are girls, third a boy. I'm very curious as to what he will weigh..it's been a big guessing game with my family this pregnancy.
I've had two vaginal births too. No c-section planned this time either.
Same father too.

I am so glad to see that the weights of babies to one mother are all normally around the same weight as their siblings give or take a few oz, Or at least that is what I am hoping with number four on the way

I only have one bub so far so can't comment on my own experience. But I was born 7pd 2oz 7 days early and my sister was then born 2.5 years later at 6pd 2oz exactly on her due date.
So for my mum her second was smaller.

I have quite a few friends who had quite big differences between the first and second, with the second being smaller... ie. one friend had a 9lb 5oz boy, then a 7lb 2oz girl 2 years later.
My SIL had 3, and her first was her biggest.
1st - 9lb 3oz
2nd - 8lb 12oz
Both boys and both big but thankfully Dec wasn't bigger than Zac!
The first two were to my ex -
DS1 - 38 weeks - 7lb 14oz
DS2 - 39.5 weeks - 9lb
And 2 to my husband -
DS3 - 38 weeks - 9lb
DS4 - 40.5 weeks - 10lb
Definitely getting bigger! This one will probably be 11lb lol.

DS1 was 35wks 1705gms (3lb 14oz) he had IUGR due to PE
DS2 was 32wks 2133gms (4lb 14oz) so he got bigger
DS3 I have no idea if he will be bigger or smaller?
as I'm showing signs of developing PE again
so it depends on when he comes

DS - 40 weeks 8lb 4oz 50cm long
DD1 - 40w+10 9lb 5oz 54.5cms long
DD2 - 40w+9 8lb 5oz 48cm long.
Everyone I know IRL I've spoken to about this has had varying experiences in their subsequent children's sizes so I'd take your results with a grain of salt ;)

everyones bubs do seem to be around the same size, so Ill probably b e looking at around 10-11 lbs again.
starlet - I would not wish 11 lbs on you, but my DD was 10 lbs 2 oz then DS was 10 lbs 13 oz (almost 11 lbs) so we both might be looking at almost 11 lbs or bigger babies yikes!!!:o
If the bubs head looks smaller than 40cm this time near the end I'll probably give natural birth a red hot crack. If its bigger than 40 cm probably c section again....
the results are so interesting though, even the ladies that have had different fathers to some of their kids the weight doesn't vary too much!
I've been told though it doesnt really matter so much about how much they weigh to get them out its the size of the head cause everything else follows. fingers crossed.

I've only got the one, but am wondering how it'll be next time for me.
DD was born 10lbs 4oz, but her father was born 12lbs. I often wonder if her size was due to his size when he was born... or whether it's more to do with me.
I'm no longer with her father, so any baby I have with be with someone else (hopefully DP!). Both DP and I were average-sized babies, 7lbs. I often wonder if this means my next baby will be average-sized too...
1st - 7lb4
2nd - 8lb4
I'd hate to see THAT trend continuing! (although husband got a referral today for the ol' SNIP!)

Meggie - wow I cant beleive ne of yours was 9lbs something and then a little 6lbs something girl!!! was there anything wrong with you DD when she was born, or anything wrong during your pregnancy that is just astounding! goes to show it can happen...
althought the majority of us our babies are around the same in size..
My mums babies all go bigger, there was older brother - 7 lbs something, then me at 8lbs something and little brother 9lbs something which she had to have by emergency c section cause her cervix failed
DS: 6lb 5oz 49cm long
DD: 7lb 3oz 49.5cm long
Both born 39 weeks to the day:).
DS, 1999 was 8lb 4oz - tall boy now!
DD, 2001 was 5lb 8oz - still skinny as a rake, has her fathers tiny body, metabolism and partly asian genes, I think!

dh and i were both over 9lb and so was ds. There wasnt anything wrong with dd but at 27 weeks they noticed she wasnt growing as fast. She was born at 39 weeks with almost no fluid left and very red dry skin. I was under an unatural amount of stress and i think it was partly the cause. She grew so fast after she was born and has well and truly caught up to ds at the same age. the twins are both bigger on the u/s than she was.
DD: 7lb 12 oz (41w2d)
DS: 9lb 14oz (39w5d) - glad he came nearly 2 weeks earlier than DD did!

i think its almost like an old wives tale that each baby gets bigger :D
My OB said that 60% of second babies are bigger than the first.
Still, that only just over half which can still give some of us hope as my first was 9lb 7oz.
DD#1 7lb half an oz 41 weeks No Drugs
DD#2 5lb 12oz born 38 weeks with GD
DS 6lb 2oz born 38 weeks with GD No Drugs
DD#1 has a diff dad. I have heard it has something to do with the size the mum and dad were when they were born I was 5lb 12 and DF was 5lb 5 so we were only small.
Baby 1 - Boy 8lbs14.5oz (39+4)
Baby 2 - Girl 7lbs 12oz (38+4)

DS - 10.9lbs 57cm HC 36
Was supposed to be a c/s but they decided to try and get me to push it out! Never completely healed from that.
We're expecting our 2nd in about 6/7 weeks. thoughout the whole pregnancy I felt it was going to be smaller - but now i'm not so sure. During this last trimester i've gained so much weight and my stomach has just gone "poof"
Paranoid this means we're to expect another boy - When we really want a girl. Also - I had planned to go drug free for this birth. so :fingerscrossed: it's a small bub.

My bubs:
1:Boy/37wks/ 6lb 3oz 2800g
2:Girl/35wks/5lb 15oz 2710g
3:Boy/39wks/7lb 13oz 3500g
4:Girl/39wks/7lb 2oz 3240g
My first 2 came early so if at gestation they would have weighed a bit more,I think it depends on the baby + pregnancy!
