Hi, I'm considering getting a baby power swing for by DD2 but want to hear from some other mums who have used one to see if they are any good first.

One of the ones I am looking at is the Fisher Price Power Plus Swing.

How long can you use these types swings for? MY DD is almost 11 weeks old and weighs a bit over 6kg - will it last her much longer?

we bought a fisher price my little lamb cradle swing and it has been the best thing weve bought so far. In fact DD is asleep in it now... and has been for nearly 2 hours. She loves it and it grows with them, up to 11 kgs. She hated the smaller swings... this one lays back and goes in different directions. We love it. Its not cheap though, we paid 289 for it!!

Best thing I bought! We had a battery operated one and I was chewing the batteries, so bought the power plus swing.

My DD was a terrible sleeper and also wanted to be held/rocked all the time, which isn't possible when you have 2 other children to also look after, so the swing was a life saver for me.

We have the fisher price precious plant cradle swing. It is the best thing we have ever bought DS.
I would suggest buying one.

We bought a battery operated one 2nd hand. Best thing I ever bought! DD used it till around, ummm, 6 months I think. She wasn't a big baby though. Towards the end it was just used as somewhere to put her in the kitchen, not with the swing turned on.

A standard bouncer is an alternative and many mums I know have used those, rocking bub gently with their toes if necessary.

 Totally worth it. I bought one for my 3rd baby from ebay for $65 and it saved my sanity. Wish I'd used one for the other 2. Jack would sleep in it for hours in the middle of the loungeroom with his brothers yelling and carrying on around him. He used it from 6 weeks until about 5.5 months. He wanted to be held all the time and did not sleep well for his first 12 weeks of life which was very tricky when I had 2 other little boys to look after too. The swing was a life saver for me. I recently sold it again on ebay and got back what I paid for it. Go for it.

I bought DS a little fisher and price portable swing the other day, and it's been great so far  I bought it because he loves sitting in his bouncer with me rocking it, which is fine unless I have to do things! Now I can clean/cook etc while he is happily swinging away. Highly recommend

Just wanted to say thanks for all those who replied to my post about the baby power swing. I ended up buying the one I originally mentioned off ebay, it's in near perfect condition and got it for a great price. I tried my little girl in it this morning and she loves it!! Plus it lets me get a few things done around the house while she is happy and content. Really made me wonder why I never got one with my first DD!! Thanks again everyone  to anyone else thinking of getting one.

We paid about $80 for ours brand new. It wasn't anything flash but Ds absolutely loved it and it was fantastic while he had reflux and colic! Got endless use out of it.

Best thing I ever bought!!

Just p!ssed off I didn't buy it until my 2nd bub!!

DD2 would only sleep in it during the day for the first 12 weeks or so - would sleep 40 minutes in the cot, and 3-4 hours in the swing (not swinging) so it was a no brainer for us.

Highly recommend to anybody, especially going from 1 child to 2 children IYKWIM.
