DD#2 lost her first one on the weekend.

I was wondering the same thing, but as it was late at night, I didn't bother posting a query about it.

So the toothfairy left $4.

my dd's still have their teeth but i was just going to give them a $2 coin, you know the tooth fairy has to visit alot of kids and she cant stash that many notes in her pouch:D

My cousin teaches Prep and the going rate for teeth was the hot topic amongst the children. It was found that one little girl was getting $20 a tooth!
A few weeks later my cousin overheard a conversation where another child was giving her tooth this particular little girl because, "your tooth fairy pays more than mine"...

The going rate for teeth was 50c when I was a kid. One night though, the toothfairy mixed up a $1 coin and a 10c coin (this happened just as the $1 were being introduced) and I got $1.40 :smiliedance: excitng stuff when you are little

i didn't get tooth fairy money as i didnt start losing baby teeth tiil my first year of high school.

i guess it would depend how old DS is as to how much he gets. but i think a couple of bucks should do it. after all, the tooth fairy is sharing a budget with the easter bunny and santa clause.

$2 coin i reckon is good for kids, although i have been known - i mean the toothfairy - have been kind to special occasion teeth EG 1st tooth lost..

my daughter has lost about 7 teeth all up and all of them bar 1 or 2 have been knocked out one way or another  (they were really loose though)

so the first one that she got the guts up to pull out all herself the TF gave her a little extra for being so brave! and she got $5 (which i thought was good!)

****************

One week-end my DD lost her tooth while at her dads place on the weekend (1st time lost tooth there) and the toothfairy generously gave $20.. needless to say when she came home and told me, i was quite furious at the ex (just to outdo me of course) and of course i couldnt and didnt say anything except how lucky she was! THEN...................

DS then lost a tooth the next time at his house, expecting this 20 as well and he come home with a dollar or so.. he was still excited the tooth fairy came but it was only a week or so after his sister cleaned up with a 20 and i didnt think that was very fair!

I think its just silly giving this much money from the toothfairy!

tooth fairy in our house has one big rule.

1) only buy "thing" with TF money - no lollies!

dd1 lost her first tooth at 4.5yrs eating an apple ( she got that tooth at 14 weeks)
she got $5 and a special tooth box for the first -she has now lost 18 teeth! one back tooth was not in good cond. and she got tooth paste and tooth brush from TF for that one! (funny she takes more time to clean teeth now) she gets $2 for every other tooth.

dd1 has lost quite a few, she got $5 and a sweet little tooth fairy book with a little bag to put them in, for the first and $2 for each after that.

my tooth fairy is on a budget!

DD1 needs braces! so we are paying for baby teeth that are coming out and making way for new ones that are doing alot of damage coming in and will be costing a hell of alot of money to fix!

lol your keen! good luck on that one

in RE tomissing teeth, my sister had same prob, 1 of her kids lost a tooth and couldnt find it(lost at school) so she got them to write an IOU to the tooth fairy!

ive also just told my kids (after easter) that the Tooth fairy and the easter bunny have just "teamed up" and decided no more chocolate for easter! TF wants nice teeth to take back with her, so if you want good money, she wants good teeth :D

I always thought it was a silver coin for a tooth.
So I have given my girl 50c for each of her first teeth (2 so far)
I thought 20c was generous.

haha clever child. I used to get 50cents when I was a child, okay that was a few years ago now so I agree on the inflation side. My mother gave my little sister $5 for a tooth and I thought that was steep lol. Obviously Im just tight :p
It adds up, my DD lost 4 teeth all in the same day back in March....$20
I also find that instead of giving a gold coin giving a number of silver coins gives the facade of alot of money....hehe
