Hi everyone,
(Sorry if this is in the wrong section)
I'm just after everyones opinion on baby carriers vs slings? The slings kinda look a bit uncomfy, like their neck is about to snap off! But it looks extremely practical.. Or there's the good old carriers. Hmm decisions...
What are your thoughts on both?

I have both. The carrier is great for the older baby but I find they don't provide much support for the smaller baby that might not be so strong or if you need to be bending ie doing housework.
However, I found a close fitting sling to be better. I would recommend one that has a wide shoulder strap, poss even one that sits over your shoulder as well as one that maybe clips at the bottom to make it easier to get off when bubs is asleep.
Just a few things to think about. Hope it helps.:)

I like slings until about 3 months, soft carriers until about 6 months and then i love my back carrier from 6 months onwards.
That is just me personally. I think it depends on the individual.:)

I have both. My bub (6 weeks) likes to be upright so hates the sling at this point, he likes the baby bjorn though
I have both, however the sling was probably a waste of money. We have the peanut shell one (about $100 :() and have probably used it a max of three times, and all when DS was under 6 weeks old. I find it extremely uncomfortable, because it only goes over one shoulder so isn't very supportive (although you can get them to go over both shoulders). He also doesn't like being squished in there, and it's been ever more uncomfy for both of us as he has gotten bigger.
The baby bjorn carrier has been such a great purchase, we use it all the time . It's supportive, and DS loves it. I also feel more comfortable leaning forward with him in it, as opposed to the sling, because he's strapped in there nice and tight. However, we weren't able to use the baby bjorn when he was younger, it just wasn't supportive enough for his little neck.

Thanks for your replies.
We have a carrier we used for DD. It isn't a Bjorn one though, just one from Kmart. We used it often enough with DD but hard to take her out when she was asleep. We'd end up waking her up and she'd go nuts!
I thought about buying a good carrier, like a Bjorn, but now I think i'll get a sling that way we have both :)
