My little bubs is now over due by two weeks and I am due to be induced on tuesday 9th. My obs has told me they will insert some gel called pge2 and wait 24hrs to see if labour comes on if it doesnt they will induce me with the drip. I was induced with dd and know what that is like.
I just wonder if any one has had there baby after just the gel has the labour gone well etc. Any info would be helpful.

Hi Angelbaby, My son was overdue 13 days, so they induced me on Friday, 1st April (no joke). My Cervix was still closed, so I had my first lot of gel at 9am in the morning and then at 4pm in the afternoon the second lot of gel, my Cervix was only opened by approx 2 cm.....I had to stay in hospital that night, they told me that I would have to come on the drip the next morning. But I started to get light contractions at about 7pm that day, and they got gradually painfuller. By 1 am in the morning I was brought into the Birthing Suite, just to monitor me as the Contractions kept on coming, but very irregular. The Midwife told me to take some pethadine and have a nice hot shower, so at least I can have a couple of hours rest before going on the drip and having the green light for labour. But as soon as I hit the shower after my pethadine shot, I had full on contractions. I still was only 7cm dilated, but Bub was oushing out. By 3.30 am he was born. So my whole labour was only 2 1/2 hours!!!! And I highly suspect that the Pethadine really did it for me. But because he was in a real hurry after that to come out, there was no time for any other painkiller!!!! But it was all good, although I need some stiches as I had some deep tearing internally, but it all went very well. Bub had to be under Oxygen for aoiut 1 hour as he did a Poo in me, but all that went without problems!! .........You are welcome to PM if you need any more info!!!!....Belinda :p

in regards to your question angelbaby8, I think that every womans body reacts differently. What may work for some might not be sucessful for others.

I had two doses of the gel and still absolutely no action at all!!! My ob suggested a caesar, and I jumped at the chance- i was more terrified of the drip.

But as I said the gel might might great for you. :) Good luck with everything

I would be suprised if your cervix didn't dilate from the gel alone being so overdue.

Maybe even if you ask the doctor to sweep your membranes that will get things going. I had that done with my second baby on my EDD and went into labor 2 hours later.

Good luck for Tuesday!
