Hi I have a beautiful 5month old baby girl, and I am breadtfeeding, like I understand that u still have a chance 2 fall pregnant while breastfeeding but is there a way 2 make it more possible to fall pregnant without stopping breastfeeding?? Cuz it took me and dh 4 yrs to have our lil girl and we love her so much and would love 2 have another baby close so they grow up 2gether and kinda have a bad feeling it will take us another 4yrs or so, any tips 2 help with ttc would b great.
There's no way to help speed up the process, but eventually your hormones will change and you will start ovulating again. There is a possibility of getting pregnant 2 weeks before you get your first AF after bubs, but there is no way to know when that is going to happen ... unless you want to do OPKs twice a day for potentially the next 12 months and I'm sure you don't!
My suggestion is to wait til AF returns (mine returned at about 7 months after my ds was born) and then start charting or using OPKs to see if you are ovulating. You can definitely ovulate while breastfeeding, but some women don't and AF might not return for many months even after they stop BFing.
All the best!

My AF returned when my DS was about 7mths and I got pregnant when DS was 15mths old.
I breastfed him until I was 3 months pregnant with DD. He self-weaned at that point - I was happy to keep going.
So it is possible. Mim1 had some great advise

My af also returned at 7mths. I fell pregnant at 9mths but had a miscarriage I am still feeding my 19mth old dd and am 11 weeks pregnant.
Hi, my AF returned after 4 months with DS and 2 months with DD. I was on the mini pill with DS but it messed with my system so I went off it and DD was a whoops (but not unwanted) when DS was 10 months. He self weaned almost instantly and I found out three weeks later I was pregnant. It just depends on your body and when you start ovulating again.
