Did you specifically TTC a girl or a boy? If so, what did you try and did it work?!!

I would like a girl, but i didnt plan for one. We are ttc and it just worked out that DF was going away during O and we could only BD 3days before O. So if i am pregnant at the moment and its a girl then everything worked out perfectly. I chose other.

We weren't 'trying' to conceive yet, and were really surprised to fall pg having DTD just once, 5 days prior to O. Based on the longevity of sperm theory I was sure bub would be a girl, but nope a little blue bundle it was :D

We started off just changing the timing of DTD in the hope that we increased our chances of having a girl. After a couple of months and a m/c we decided we just needed to go with it and we were lucky to get either sex as long as we had a happy and health bub.

2 yrs, 2 losses and we ended up with a girl anyway by sheer luck :yelclap:

We did not try for either sex...but I was doing some reading when pregnant, and everything I read told me we were having a boy...i.e the foods I ate when TTC, the positions, sex on O day, etc...

and we had a girl...

I trying the "girl diet" when TTC bub number 3 as i had two boys and thought it would be lovely to have a girl third time around. This diet was tried by another bubhubber and after 4 boys got her girl, she brought the diet off a lady who had 5 boys and thru this diet conceived her daughter. I honestly still think its 50/ 50 but im happy to say im having a PINK one this time :goodvibes: so maybe it did work??? :D

I have never tried to influence the conception of a particular sex, but both of my babies so far have been boys and have been conceived right on ovulation (which fits the Shettles method). The baby I'm pregnant with now was conceived early in the cycle, which according to Shettles favours baby girls, so time will tell!

I had a m/c b4 my first DS - lachlan, and a m/c also b4 my 2nd DS - Riley. So both times I just wanted a happy healthy baby and tried no theories, but more then likely I was close or ovulation both times.

Interested in hearing any girl theories though for our TTC#3 so we can give it our best shot and increase our chances of a girl.

Hi Sheree, how are the boys going?? We have just found out we are pregnant with #4. I read up on the Shettles method for a girl, so :fingerscrossed: it has worked. They say the main thing is to pinpoint ovulation, the aim is to concieve 3-4 days before O. For us we conceived on day 11, and I ovulate on day 14-15. I would dearly love a girl, but if we are blessed with another boy that will be ok too. A few friends lately have lost their babies, or had bad news at their scans, so this has put it into perspective for me.

We used the Lunar calender for gender selection (so easy) - we wanted a boy first and six weeks ago we had him - next year we will be trying for a girl.

Our 1st pregnancy was unplanned and then she was born with a severe disability that only occurs in girls. By the time she was diagnosed we were already pregnant with number 2, also another girl but this time healthy. 3rd time round everyone thought we would want a boy because of the risk with another girl but for us it was never about the sex, we were just trying for a healthy baby. Even now people ask if we're going to go back and try for a boy and even though we're not planning any more I always answer that if we do decide to have another then we'll be going back for another baby not a boy or a girl.

My sister has a boy so I get my boy fix through him and she loves buying girly clothes etc for my kids birthdays so we get the best of both worlds!

Hi all,

this is my first post on Bub Hub

With DS1 I knew my DH kind of wanted a boy, so we BD on CD 7, 11, 13, 15 & 16 (O'd on CD15 per my chart). Not strictly following Shettles, but it worked and got DS1. Didn't try anything else, ie no diet changes etc, however our regular diets seem to be pretty boy friendly, and I always have plenty of EWCM.

With DS2 we tried for a girl (Shettles again), BD on CD 7, 9, 11, 12 & 13, O'd CD15 so cut off of 2 days (thereabouts). No other changes really, and again it seems our diets were pretty boy friendly :shame:(didn't really know about the gender diet at this stage, or was sceptical of it and relied heavily on Shettles). Obviously didn't work, resulted in DS2 .

I'm now inclined to think the diet and supplements weigh heavily in Gender Swaying, and timing is only a very small part of it (if any at all).

I've already decided if we TTC#3 (which is unlikely as DH not very keen) we'll be purching a plan through the website that I think some of you have mentioned on here ;)

Best wishes to all TTC a specific gender :fingerscrossed:

My partner and I were hoping for a girl, and I even timed our love making according to a fertility calendar that gave us the optimum dates for conceiving a girl - I recently gave birth to a beautiful baby BOY! But I wouldn't trade him for the world. I love him no matter what. And if we try again and have another boy - so be it! I thought I would be dissapointed if I had a boy but it was love at first sight....:bee:

my 3 pregnancies were planned, but it didn't matter what sex they were as long as they were healthy!

Yep it's me with all the boys I bought this diet which I have given to many a buhubber. It seems to work if you follow it closely.
You have to want a baby I guess cause there is still a chance of getting the same again if one can get over that then theres no harm in trying.
Our first 3 were unplanned they were all boys which I adore with every part of me but a little girl is what I longed for ( we tried for one month, diet and timing)she came this March she has completed us. The boys adore her she is the first girl on my side. If she was a he it would be Ok that little boy would of had the best life too. I have shut up shop 4 is my limit and I knew then when we tried for No.4.

Hi all,

Im due May 2010, so a few more weeks until i foudn out what it is.

But we tried the temp taking everymorning and only a specific time of trying for a boy.

We conceived first go... now just the waiting game. I took my temp every morning before getting out of bed (i was hoping to see a pattern after a few months not first go) and only made love at the time of ovulation as per the temp chart.

I will keep you posted, 19 week scan is December 15!

we tried for all our babies but i never ever did any reasearch only heard that we needed to bd on O day so we did that 4 times lol yep and we got 4 BOYS , so now i have done loads of research and discovered that we need to bed 2-3 days before O , so hopefully we get a healthy baby girl by doing it this way !!! but hey i love all my boys and another would just blend in just lovely.

Hi Mel, you posted me the girl diet earlier this year, and on our first go, yes pregnant! We are due in June, so our 4 will be similar in ages to yours I think, not as close though. DS1 will be 5 in feb, bub comes in June. Anyway I just wanted to get your thoughts because I am very impatient and want to find out the sex NOW... I have a very regular 28 day cycle and worked out that I ovulate on day14/15. We conceived on day 11, do you think this was too close to O? Thanks in advance Sarah

Sorry to answer someone else's question - I did this exact cycle and got pregnant with our daughter.

O was day 14/15 and we had a 3-4 day cut off. No diet or supplements, just plan old timing.

We also timed for our son - I just had it in my head I wanted a boy first to be the "big brother" so we bd'd on O only.

For us it worked both times

Sort-of....with DS1, DH wanted a boy....so we DTD the day before ovulation and got a little boy (I wanted a girl, but already had one, and thought that there wasn't much chance of influencing it anyway!). With the twins, I had no idea what I wanted, other than a baby, so we DTD on what I thought was the day before ovulation, but got an indication that I ovulated about 4days later, so DTD again thinking i got my dates/signals mixed.....Ended up with b/g twins with an EDD 10days different to my LMP! I am thinking I was having a weird long cycle and that's how i somehow ovulated twice, and maybe at different times, but we'll never know the timing!

Thanks for that Jane :) I'm glad you had success with it. I don't know that you could say it's 'easy'. There are a lot of people with many of the same gender that have tried everything and have obviously not found that to be the case.

we havent started TTC yet.. we probably wont try for a particular gender (I didnt even know that was possible until now!) we'll be happy to just have a little bub, but I'd really love to have a boy first, and then it wouldnt matter bub#2 was. Ideally though, I'd love to have a boy and a girl. preferrably 2 boys and 1 girl. Havent even started TTC and Im already planning out the whole family ;)
