View Full Version : Pepti Junior - How to Thicken?
Bubs has just been prescribed Pepti Junior and has just had her second feed...she really doesnt like it I don't think...she will hardly drink it....anyway, it seems to be giving her probs where she is a bit more chucky than normal and seems to not handle it particularly well...she was on the Karicare HA-AR b4...the doctor said I could thicken it but was unsure of the ingredients and said to check the label to make sure it was ok....I didnt ask what I should be looking for?? Has anyone been on Pepti for reflux, possible intolerance to cows milk protein and thickened it and if so what with? I have a karicare thickener....

Yes, yes and yes!! My DS is intolerant of cow's milk so is now on Pepti Jnr, and we have honestly not looked back. He now goes to the toilet without any troubles. He didn't like it at first, but now he is used to it drinking is fine. He was on Karicare HA-AR beforehand.
Anyway, he has reflux too and chucks really badly on Pepti Jnr. My paed recommended adding Karicare Food thickener which we have been doing for the last two weeks, but unfortunately he still chucks. Not quite as much though (although, warning, it comes up really thick). He has slept better since we added the thickener so it must be helping to keep it down better.
Sounds like our bubs have similar issues! Feel free to PM me anytime, it can be really distressing have a bub with probs!!
Yeah my son was reflux but outgrew it and was all good around 18 months. She is a different kettle of fish though...its her skin thats the problem we are trying to clear...we were good on the HA AR with regards to keeping down (although some still came up) but we need to fix her poor skin...thanks I tried the Karicare Thickener today which was good...she still didnt want to drink though. Have bought the gaviscon powder to try instead...see how that goes!
