Hi  Vallerie turns 5 next week, and due to a few of her favourite people not being around at that time, she's having her party this weekend. We're just doing a party at home here, no theme, just a sausage sizzle, plus party food, with games etc.

So I've got the food organised, the decorations, the goodie bags to take home, I've got grown-up food as well as baby food for the other age groups that will be present, I've got prizes organised for the games - but it's the actual games that I'm a bit stressed about. Tell me if these sound too much or not enough, or if they'll be too hard or too much work... I'm stressing!!

Pass the parcel, that should be fine, we've done the parcel and there's enough for everybody to do an unwrap and get a lollipop. The prize is some texta's.

Treasure Hunt, this will be a game we all do together, I'm going to lead it, start in the kitchen with a cryptic clue which will tell us where the next clue is, etc etc, and the end prize is a little moneybox thing filled with chocolate coins, that we can all share (I like this game because no-body is a loser)

Race Across the Yard, this is your basic foot-race, from one end of the yard to the other. I've got a frisbee for first prize, an small insulated lunch bag for second prize, and a little bunch of hair bands and a butterfly clip for third prize.

Statues, otherwise known as "when the music stops, you must freeze" and whoever moves is out (and gets a lollipop) and whoever is left at the end gets a cute little cherub statue for a prize.

Is that enough?? Too much??? I'm assuming that with all the cr@ppy party food I'm giving them, they'll all just be running around screaming and laughing by the end of the day anyway :p but will that be enough "organised" games??

I thought about getting a clown or something - but hey, I AM a clown

I dunno......................

What about a table with some home made playdough, or some bits of coloured contact cut up so they can play 'stickers' (or stickers from the cheap shop - but that can get ugly price wise)

Paint is too messy for a party, pencils or textas and big bits of paper to draw.

Normally they are too busy going berserk to worry about too much.

Good Luck, you are going to need it.

Along the "craft" theme, you could supply cut-out shapes, and bits and bobs so the kids can decorate and make their own party hats, just for something to keep them busy - but I think it might be a bit much if they're already hyped up for the party.

It sounds like you've got a great party planned, all I can suggest is maybe:

- a pinata
- pin the tail on the donkey. (but instead of a donkey, you can perhaps adapt it to "pin the tiara on the princess" or something along whatever theme you're doing)
