Liquid Soap
We use it in the kitchen, laundry & bathroom.
So simple it's almost a non-recipe, really, but is eco-skin-wallet friendly so here goes.
1/4 bar grated natural soap
3-4 drops tea tree or other essential oil
2-3 cups boiled, still hot water
Pop your grated soap into a glass container or bottle, pour in boiled water and essential oil. Shake together very well until dissolved and pour into your old pump-pack or soap bottle.
It's amazing how economical this is compared to the stupidly high costs of the commercial stuff. Hubby LOVES liquid soap (for some reason ) so we've turned to this style and are all happy.
Washing Powder (clothes)
3 cups washing soda (available at Coles)
1 bar natural soap, grated
1/4 cup vinegar OR lemon juice
Few drops essential oil such as eucalypt
Put the washing soda and grated soap in a large glass jar and mix to combine.
That's it! I store this jar in my laundry cupboard along with the vinegar/lemon juice & oil. When I put on a wash, I pour between 1/4 - 1 cup of powder mixture in to dissolve and add the vinegar and oils under running water. Surprisingly effective - everything comes out lovely and fresh.
Cat Food
We buy 1kg pcks of roo mince from the grocery store, as it seems the best solution. Cats of course do need meat as their diet but beef mince is not eco-friendly at all and the costs can also be rather high.
I put the roo mince in a saucepan over low, let it brown, then sometimes throw in an egg or two, or stretch it out with some rice/pasta.
This freezes nicely, and feeds two adult cats for at least one-two weeks.
Feel free to add yours, please! I am especially needing handy dish-washing recipes, and anything to do with hair-care - shampoos etc.
