My little boy is 5 and a half months now and I was just wondering what I should be expecting him to be able to do at this age with regards to moving around.
So far, he hasn't rolled over. He has plenty of tummy time and lying on his mat surrouded by his toys. He rolls over onto his side with a toy in his hands and tries to get it in his mouth but he doesn't seem able to make that final push to get onto his belly from that position. Aslo when he's on his tummy he gets really frustrated but doesn;t seem to turn this into any action and try and get onto his back again. It seems that most othere kiddies this ages that I know, and some younger, can roll over at this point. Is this anything to worry about? Can you teach a baby to roll?

Also, at what age should he be able to sit up on his own? He seems to be fairly steady when he's sitting and we are holding him around the waist or at his hips but as soon as we let go his nose heads for the floor or he starts to topple over sideways! Is there anything I can do to encourage him to become stronger at this?? AM I expecting too much from too soon?

Sorry! I have just realised there was an earlier thread about rolling over quite similar to mine!

 Dont stress.

Ella started rolling properly at 6 months. Your little guy sounds like he is close.

Ella will be 7 months on Saturday. She is almost sitting alone, but after a couple of mins she topples over. Pop a boomarang cushion around him. This helps to soften the fall. But dont push him!! :)

When CJ was a baby, he wasn't rolling at the "proper" age either. I stressed about it, but didn't need to. They all do it at their own pace!!
