I mean out to the shops, maternal nurse, visiting (in the car) NOT for a walk in the pram...

My DD is no longer a newborn but when she was we hardly ever took her out. She hated the car and hated the pram so we avoided both at all costs..lol.

She's 7 months now and loves the pram and the car so we tend to take her out at least one a week. :)

We go out almost everyday. My two are so used to it by now we rarely have any issues. They sleep in the pram and the car and will crash with whoever is holding them and I can feed them while I am out too.

I have been taking them out at least 5 times a week since we got them home. I am so glad I did, it saved my sanity and bubs are pretty happy mostly.

Oh and for the first 2 months or so at home We had to take taxi's everywhere as we had no car.

if he is happy to do what you have to do, go for it. if you think your taking him out too much, just think of babys that are a 4th or 5th child etc.. they get dragged around everywhere!

I took DS out in the pram (now for a walk) daily. But using a car was very very rare, and still is.

He spent his first 8 days in the hospital but after that it was pretty much daily... we've got three older kids and they needed to get to school :) He's 7 months now and is fine, he's managed to develop his own routine and sleeps and travels fine.

I have a friend who didn't take her newborn out of her house for the first 2 months of his life because she was worried about germs (she's OCD)... personally I couldn't do that.

But you need to do what is right for you - don't ever let anyone pressure you into doing something with YOUR child that YOU don't feel comfortable with.

When DS was newborn we were out all the time. We had to do some food shopping the day I got out of hospital (he was 2 days old). We had no choice though, it was only me and DF over east at the time. However that been said I wouldnt of stayed at home  How boring lol

I take him out mayb e 1-2 times a weekly...mostly just to food shoopping and shopping in genral as I love shopping atm lol. And sometimes just to the saddle shops round here to get horse feed or rugs ect for the ponys.

My 2 aren't newborns anymore, but we've taken them out since we got them home from hospital. Ds was 3 weeks & dd was 6 days.
Infact we traveled an hour in the car the day after dd was born & 2.5 hours when she was about 4 weeks old.

Our old neighbours didn't take their dd out until she was 6 months, she barely left the house in that time.

When F was a newborn we went to the shops or something pretty much daily then he turned feral and we were housebound for quite a while (not including the countless hours walking in the ergo but couldn't stop or screaming ensued) but from about 5 mths we have been back to daily.

As a newborn, almost daily.

As often as possible, after all I'm not one to spend time in the house unless I have to!

Except for when the big swine flu warnings were about.

Yes you request one, mind you a few times they sent a car without a proper one and was told to use it or walk! I usually told them to send another car and I would wait. I NEVER took a taxi without a carseat!

I wish I could go out daily in the car! But as I had a c/s I am unable to drive for another 3 weeks. So much fun being stuck at home with a toddler and a newborn!

As soon as I can drive again, I'm outta here. It's not good to be cooped up inside all day long.

Thanks for your replies! This week my bub has been inside most of the week, but next week we will be out almost daily for some reason or another!

:iagree:Exactly what I was going to say.

I've always taken mine out & about from the start. I'm not one that can stay home.

DS3 was 7 weeks prem, so didn't come home till he was 3 weeks old, but we were out everyday from that.

As well as taking the older kids to school, netball, football, training, swimming etc, DS2 goes to playgroup, mother's group & gymbaroo, so we're always out.

As often as I need. We take Hayley to kinder 3 days a week, we go to play group once a week, take Skye to occasional care 1 day a week, then theres groceries etc. We pretty much go out almost every day. Personally I can't stay home all day, every day. I need to get out even if its just for a walk around the block (unless its raining). When you have more than one kid you sometimes HAVE to go out because of school, doctors appointments and other commitments. I've taken my babies out pretty much the day after getting home from hospital. I had a baby but life still goes on.

We're out on thursday's, friday's, saturday's & sunday's. Than add in any Dr.'s appointments on the other days. We're pretty much out every day.
Trip's spent their first 7 weeks in hospital, after being home for 3 days they had a Dr.'s appointment.

We're out alllllllllllllllllll the time. We all get board of seeing the same 4 walls all the time.

We are out at least every second day but generally everyday, J seems to go crazy being at home - much easier to handle when we are out

I went out everyday for my own sanity...I couldnot have been at home all day everyday

I had mothers' group, gymbaroo, gym, walks in pram, coffe with friends, shopping, I always got out at least once a day.

:iagree:

I was determined that my life wouldn't stop because of bub. We go out every single day, for groceries, coffee, exercise, movies, shopping, appointments...

He sleeps anywhere, anytime, through anything
