View Full Version : Tax Return & FTB payments
Hi all, hope someone can answer this for me please:) Im finding this years tax sorta tricky cause of working part of the year etc
I already get FTB A & B payments - do they need to go in the income section of a tax return or is it classes as a sperate sort of thing so no need ? If they do need to go into the income part are you sent a statement etc?
Also child support payments (which FTB A was adjusted on) does it go into the tax return also as income or as its a payment towards the child again isnt required?
Thanks.
FTB payment isn't taxable income
so I don't think it should be put on the income section.
Thanks Kymmy:)
I ended up ringing the tax office (1/2 an hour on hold to ask a 2 min Q  ) and asked them also who said no it exempt income as is child support i found on the etax help screen.
Finally lodged the return YAY :smiliedance:

I had to call the ATO last weekend to get my sequence number to claim the baby bonus. I spent 40mins on hold, only to get disconnected. I called back later and spent 45mins on hold. Peeved me right off.
Glad you got it sorted.
Glad you sorted it out!
Makes me think about the sequence number - I can't for the life of me find it!
I don't really want to waste half an hour on the phone.

So if my only income is FTB A & B do I need to lodge a return?

No, if you are not working and don't have a taxable income you don't need to lodge a tax return.
I am waiting for hubby to lodge his though, before I receive the lump sum - a tax benefit.

Cool, thanks for that. DH got his group certificate yesterday, so i'll be posting his off tomorrow :fingerscrossed: we get something back.
I am looking forward to doing that - getting all this tax done.
We usually don't get anything back til December.
