View Full Version : Unique or special ideas for weddings.
Hi everyone, My DF and I have FINALLY set a date for our wedding and I'm starting to plan it :)
I have been through a lot of bridal magazines and found some great ideas that people came up with that were really special. Like.. lighting candles at the reception to remember loved ones who have passed away and people who names their tables after holiday destinations they had been to together or one couple asked everyone to RSVP with 2 songs that always got them onto the dancefloor and gave them to their DJ to play at the wedding. Another couple got people to RSVP with a photo of themselves on their own wedding day and made the name placecards with their photo.
Anyway, I'm wondering if anyone has any other great ideas that they have either done, come up with or seen done before?
Nothing is too silly :) We like corny :p

we put a red rose on two seats, one for my grandfather and one for my grandmother who at the time were in hospital because pop had 7 heart attacks in 3 days. we took photos of it for them and my nan actually cried she never cries!
my sister had a tree for best wishes as her guest book.
we also asked instead of giving presents (we had lived together for awhile) if everyone could either put money or thier best wishes in a red envelope that we sent out with the invites and pin it to my dress. i have an awesome pic of me in my white dress with red envelopes all over it.
Thanks Daemynsmum! I like the tree idea :)

Get two jars of sand, different colours. Then get your bridal party or family members to layer them into one jar.... you have a keepsake and a nice way to see you're now blended together :)
Congrats on the date setting!
Thanks JAW - nice idea with the sand :)
Come on - I KNOW there are a heap of creative people on here!
A few goodies I've heard are passing your rings around to the guests during the service for their blessings and instead of giving chocolates or some other small token gift as bombonniere you could donate the money to a charity that is near to your heart.
Keep them coming girls :)
Mine arent really exciting but i just wanted to bump it up again for you.
A friend got everyone to let go of buttiflys as they come out of the church.
Another one put disposable cameras on every table for people to take...not so great for some "boys" who had a bit to much to drink.
Another one was a blended family so they did vows to each others kids (love the idea)
..........thats all from me..keep them coming

sorry had another thought...
at our wedding both me and dh are martial arts world champions ( we both placed 1st for our division) so instead of using a cake knife we used a nodachi a really long sword to cut our cake...
everyone present loved it said it fitted in really well with who we are and the wedding ( we had our reception in the dojo where we train).
just think of what suits your relationship and run with it.. we are considered very strange by our family and friends.
we even had our snakes present!! at our ceremony all 3 of us had a snake wrapped around our wrist.
my dh said vows to my son and gave him a necklace
hth
Thanks for the bump. I want to get as many ideas as I can!
Congratulations! I love being married and Im sure you will too....
I actually got married in Canada so my hubby and I decided to try and make it as aussie as possible so my theme was pink and yellow and I had artificial frangipanis as my flower arrangements, we also used them as table and cake decorations...oh and our wedding invites we made were frangipani and pink and yellow
some things we did to make our wedding special for us...
We made a CD of aussie songs that were special to us and gave to all our guests, we made CD covers that matched our wedding invites and put a special message inside...
Our bomboneires were noodle boxes filled with minties, chiccos, koala key rings and a frangipani flower - we pinned with a cute little coloured peg their names to the handle to use as their name places. Again the name tags were made from left over invite paper and I tied ink and yellow ribbons around them and a frangipani sticker on top. For the kids ones I added bubbles and a couple of toys
For our centrepieces I used large glass candle holders/vase type ornament filled about a quarter if it with 2 toned pink jellybeans then in the centre a smaller candle holder with a pink frangipani tea light candle in it....
We also tied the napkins at the table with pink and yellow ribbon
We too put disposable candles on tables...were interesting haha!!!
hmmm cant think what else but ill put more if i think of it... as long as your wedding reflects you it will def be special!!!
