View Full Version : Weird pain in one leg?

For the past two days I've had a really weird pain in one leg. It doesn't feel like a pulled muscle, but in three places it's really sore and bruised feeling, and under the skin feels a little firmer than the rest. The weird bit is that all three spots follow a line. One is on the inside of my calf, just above the ankle. One is on the inside leg just below my knee. The last is on the inside leg just above the knee. It hurts to bend the leg, put weight on it, or stretch it out. Not severe [pain, just a weird tight hot feeling. Definitely not swollen, or red, or hot to touch though.

Does this sound familiar to anyone? I'm at a higher than average risk of blood clots so of course I'm worried it might be one.

I'm going to call the healthline, but if it sounds familiar and someone can perhaps share what theirs was, was it might ease my mind.

Varicous Vein perhaps?

I also though blood clot so I would give the healthline a call.

Of course I have no medical or personal experience so dont freak out by my post...:)

Sorry to say it sounds like when I had my DVT.

Good luck

Well, I rang Healthline, who said go to emergency tonight, so I went to emergency and the doc said "F****** Healthline!" and told me it's most likely nothing, and it's in the wrong place to be a problematic clot if there is one, but he gave me a shot of blood thinners anyway just in case, and referred me for an ultrasound tomorrow sometime. Apparently the only factor that makes it a possibility is that I've had general anaesthetic within the last few weeks.

So I can rest easy at least tonight and hopefully tomorrow's ultrasound will confirm that it's just my body being weird. LOL

I guess Healthline have to cover their @rses.

With blood clots, the further away from your heart they are the better. So below the knee is the best spot you could get one, which is probably what the doctor was saying.

Did the pain decrease after you got the thinners?

Good luck with your scan.

Not really. It still hurts to touch, and still feels weird when I bend or stretch it out. Plus the bit that hurts has climbed a bit higher still, so it's now my calf AND half my thigh too. Weird.

The ultrasound is booked for 2pm today so I guess I'll know by then. The thinners were a 24hour dose, so I guess if there is one then I've already had a day of treatment, and if there isn't, then it'll be out of my system by tonight.

Update:

Had the ultrasound and the veins are all AOK, but the line of pain seems to follow the nerves so it may just be that I pinched a nerve in a weird place. They said it'll most likely settle in time.

A good outcome, and I spose for peace of mind it was worth the trip, even if I do feel a bit silly going to an emergency room for a sore leg LOL

That's good it's not a DVT.

There doesn't always need to be a reason. When I had my enormous DVT in my leg they said the only factor was my twin prenancy. (I was 9wks) Then 5yrs later I had a PE and blood clots on my lungs. They were stumped.
