Going Overdue and Birthweight of Baby

I was just googling VBAC in relation to Big Babies...and I came across another Aussie parenting forum. I had a little look around...and discovered that a lot of the mothers who had come close to 2 weeks overdue (like me: I was spot on 2 weeks past EDD) had a similar birthweight baby!

My daughter was 2 weeks late and weighed in at 4.67kg.


Just wondering if anyone else who went overdue had a similar weight?

I'm curious to know if DD's size is due to the fact that she was overdue and nothing else (mostly just so I can think about baby birthweights and VBAC).

DS was 9 days over and 3585g (7lb 14oz), I'm assuming had he been born on time, he would have been less than DD who was 3 days over and 3496g (7lb 11oz).

Not exactly the answer to your question :rolleyes: , but I spose what I'm getting at is that you won't necessarily have a bigger baby (if that's what you're getting at?!)

I was 4 weeks late when my poor mother was pregnant - in summer in Darwin and lost quite a bit of weight during those final weeks. I looked like I had been in the pool waaaay too long.

I know technology wasn't the same back then with guessing of due dates, but I was 7lb 1oz and 3 weeks overdue.

Em was 10 days past her EDD and she was 3180g....I was 3 weeks past my EDD when I was born but only 6lbs 5oz, tho the placenta had started to fail and no one believed Mum about her dates!!

dd was 7 days over and was 8lb 4 oz.

My 1st son was 10'3 (4616g and size 00 at birth) at was 13 days over due but my next son was born at 39 weeks and 4 days and was 9'13 (4450g and size 000 at birth) and I dont want to even think how big he would of gotten if I went over due with him and my 3rd son was born at 38 weeks and was 8'3 (3700g and size 00000 at birth) and was a big shock to me as I was huge and thought I was having another 10 pounder. The funniest think was that when people asked how big the 3rd son was I said a small 8 pounds and they would just look at me funny till I explained it

DS1 was 5 days late and he weighed 9lbs and DS2 was 3 days late and he weighed 8lbs 4oz.

I was 10 days over with DD1 and she was 7lb10oz (3.6kg I think). DD2 was 8 days over and only just 7lb (3155g). So I'm not really sure the theory of bigger babies is quite true.:confused:

I had my little girl at 40 weeks 1 day and she weighed in at a healthy 4.165kg - I would hate to know how big she would have been if I went 2 weeks over!

My DS1 was 11 days over and was 4.77kgs (10lb 8oz).
DS2 was born by elective C/S and was delivered at 40 weeks on the dot and was 5.1kgs (11lb 4oz). He would have been HUGE if he went over!!:eek:

I have been told birth weight is usually genetic (except for when there are complications such as gestational diabetes, trouble with the placenta etc). My DH was 10lb 10oz born and I was 9lb 4oz so I guess I had little hope.

We are expecting our third child in December and my GP said not to be surprised if I make the 12lb mark!! The obstetrician at the hospital said we will book a C/S for 39 weeks this time to try to keep the size down a little. So I guess cooking time is important,but if you're destined to have a big bub then that's what you're going to have.

Kailah was 10 days over and 4.130kg. I think for sure if they were to be born earlier they wouldn't be so big. One of the midwives said to me that if they had any idea of how big she was going to be they would've induced me eariler, but hey, she's here now and healthy that's the main thing.

:) Liam was 5 days over and born at 3.1kg - 7.1lb Only a little man.

Interestingly, we had an ultrasound at 37w that said he was going to be a big bub - they estimated he weighed 3.75kg at the scan.

My son was two weeks over and weighed 7lb 2oz, so really wasn't very big at all.

My son was ten days over and weighed 4.85kg - a real whopper!:)

My DS 2 was 9 days over (after being induced) and weighed 4.4kgs(9lbs13ozs). I was huge and very, very uncomfortable. I could hardly walk and my hips ached and ached. Funnily enough he is now the smallest of the 3 boys.

There was about 300grams difference in their weight...they were the exact same length (50cm) and DD's head was 1cm bigger.

i was overdue with my second girl, 10days, seemed like forever for me! but still.. she was 9lb! rather big for me cause im only 5ft tall! anyhow, things went well, after a bit of help from the midwives who got her unstuck and she had her shoulders stuck.. rather painful! anyone else had shoulder trouble??:)

ds2 had shoulder dystosia (got stuck lol) aswell.. he was 7days overdue and 9lb 7oz... I'm tiny so its understandable that it happened.. the midwives and doctors got him out eventually but he wasnt breathing very well because his face had been squished up against something (his head was bruised and they checked to make sure his nose wasnt broken)
have you had any problems with hip pain since the delivery?? my right hip (which was sore during the pregnancy) is painful when I go from sitting to standing or try roll onto that side..

my dd now 23mths was 15 days late not from lack of trying to coax her out but she was 9lbs 14oz my big strong girl and she is still just as strong willed today as well as always late to everything ha!

My son was 2weeks over due, i had him the day before i was booked in to be induced as many already know, and he was 8lb 11oz (3.95kg), and measured 56cm long, he is now just over 12 months and weights a hefty 11.1kg and is 81.5cm long.

To all that have posted what were your babies weights at 12 months, Everyone thinks my son is older than he is, Am I alone????

Tarquin was 6 days over, weighed 3720grams 8pds2&1/2oz.
At the 38 week scan (I had PIH) they estimated he was over 5kgs. was a bit of a shock (a pleasant one) when he was over a kilo lighter.

My brother was 22 days late and weighed 6lb 12oz!!

I was 4 days overdue with DD and she was 9lb

but that said my oldest son was 8lb 12oz and my other son was 8lb 1oz with a 38cm head.

My first 3 were all born ON their due date to be exact, and all weighed between 3.4 and 3.8kg then with the 4th, I went

13 days overdue, and she weighed, wait for it: 4.6kg

my first DD was only 3 days over, weighed amost 4kg, and was an emergency c/s.

my second was 10 days over, weighed only 2.8kg, born by VBAC.
