Well, I am just recovering from a bout of chicken pox because I missed out when I was a kid, but I wanted to find out of those who got chicken pox as adults, did anyone's baby NOT get it? I'm a bit worried my 7 month old DD is going to get it because she can't be immunised against it yet. I don't want to take her near other kids because they can not get spots for 10 to 21 days after being infected...

Anyone experience anything similar?

sorry I don't know anything about chicken pox for your daughter, but, having had chicken pox as an adult you are in a unique position to help cancer kids. (in qld anyway, not sure of other states) The Blood Bank uses the blood from adults who have recently had chicken pox to develop immunities for kids who have had cancer treatments. Not sure what the time frame is to give blood after birth though. One of my friends had chicken pox as an adult and the blood bank thought she was an angel, albeit one who cried through the whole donation and nearly passed out at the end - very phobic about needles.

:fingerscrossed: I hope that everything is fine with your bub.:fingerscrossed:

I had chicken pox when I was 22 years old. I fell pregnant when I was 26 years old (my DD now 8) has come in close contact with chicken pox around 5 times since she was 6 months old and hasn't got them. The Dr thinks I may have passed anti-bodies onto her.

My nephew came out in spots on Monday - we were there on Saturday - so we'll see if DD misses it again???

Thanks for the replies. Unfortunately, we realised today that DD has got chicken pox :( We think she had them yesterday but it was hard to tell with her ecxema, however DD still seems to be in good spirits considering.

Hopefully, DD goes OK the next couple of days as DH leaves for a work trip tomorrow for the week
