Just wondering what the maximum number of shots your bub received in a visit. I took my DS for his 2nd pneumonia immuni yesterday and my GP has scheduled his next one when he turns 12 months. My Ds is up for 3 shots!!! One on each thigh and his arm for MMR, Meningococcal and HiB Booster. The most my DS has received before was 2 and now I'm apprehensive about our next visit. I am an immuni advocate but when my baby cries because of the needle I get emotional afterwards and need to have a little cry myself. Anyway, I was just wondering...please share your experiences so I know what to expect on our next visit.
Thanks! :)

Yep thats the right amount !
Although they usually do them all in their arms by this age.
I think the 12mth vax were the worst for us as it is a little more painful for them plus i think the fact they really know more of whats going on & see the needle etc.
Boof had a cry which made me feel sick & got me teary but he was over it within minutes & with plenty of cuddles he was certainly quite happy within 5 !
Was funny though because they make you stay around for 15 - 20mins after this batch because of the MMR ( it can have allergic reactions but if your bub has no dramas with eggs etc then you should be fine ) anyways Boof saw the sister coming back to check the wound & how he was going so he became rather worried lol so as she said " its ok see i dont have those horrible needles this time " so he was looking at her then was ok to give her a smile LOL !
They often give the littlies a lolly to take their minds of it which i was offered to take one but i had already brought a bottle along & one of his favourite biccies so i knew if i needed to calm him he had something "comforting".
So if your little one has a fav toy, blankie or if he is using a dummy or bottle still take that with you so he has some comfort & reassurance but honestly he will be fine with lots of cuddles & kisses.
I know its hard but when you know its a good thing to do you know its a little discomfort & pain for a long term reassurance.
Good luck :hugs:

Thanks thanks thanks ally!!!! You have no idea how much better I feel after reading your post. It was really tough yesterday cause like you said the older they get the more aware they are of what's happening. Yesterday was the first time my Sam really cried. Before when he'd get shots when he was a bit younger he would just grunt like something irritated him but yesterday---nooooo! He was upset! in fact, after the shot when the doctor came back with a biscuit he wouldn't take it (and Sam loves his biscuits!) and my Gp just said, "You don't trust me eh?" LOL! I know it's good for him but 3 shots!!! Aaaaaah!!!!
It's funny when they put the needle in, it's like everything is in slow motion and I'm waiting for them to take it out LOL Oh well I have another month to psyche myself! Sometimes, I think it affects me way more then it does Sam. You're right, it takes them about 5 minutes of crying then done, like nothing ever happened. Hope all goes well. Not looking forward to the 15 minute wait you mentioned. Oh well....
Thanks ally!!! :hugs:

Oh i know all about the slow motion !!!
I think anytime they hurt themselves or the likes we see it in slow motion & it hurts so bad my heart feels like it will break !
Sounds like everything your feeling is pretty typical of a loving mum ! :hugs:
