View Full Version : Post Natal Depression Book...
Hello All...
I have previously posted threads in regards to a book I am compiling about Post Natal Depression(PND).
Firstly, a little bit about me... I myself suffered with PND in silence for a year before I was diagnosed the week of my son's first birthday. So I fully understand, the depths of darkness this awful illness can take a woman, father and their families as it did to mine. I lost my marriage, my life and my soul as I battled the darkness.
I have a story to tell, like so many of us do, and because my story is but one, I am trying to put together a book that will compile of 'journeys' through PND as well as information to guide one through and their families... an overall book about PND to help bring more light and to show the true spectrum of PND and its many stories.
Basically, I am still searching for anyone who wishes to share their stories with me and I am about to seek out publishers. I would love for more stories, as this is the lifeline of the book.
I wish to thank all the inspirational women and their families who have shared their journey and I hope to make you all proud as I grow nearer to seeking publication.
If anyone has any inquiries, please contact me via bubhub or my email address ac51@bigpond.com.
If you wish your story to remain anonymous I will respect your wishes also as everyone has the right to be heard... just put a note on your story.
Thank you for taking the time to read this thread and I look forward to some feedback on this book concept as well....
Very kind regards,
Amanda

Hi,
I had severe PND too.
I found that reading other's peoples stories and finding similarities... knowing I wasn't the only one feeling this helped me immensely through the most difficult times.
I'd love to share my story as it just might benefit someone else, and also that there is help available and it does get better
I'll write my story and email you
I think your book is a great idea, not only would it help sufferers of PND, but it will help give others a better understanding of just how debilitating PND is.
Thank you so much for your support.
I totally agree that the more I learnt about other people's stories the less alone I felt which was an immense part of my recovery and dealing with what PND was.
I look forward to reading your stories soon.
Take care.
Regards,
Amanda :flowerz:

Hi, Im new to the forum but would love to share my PND story with you, it was not severe, but certanily interesting seeing as I was so young! I can email in the next couple of weeks if need be?
Hi,
Feel free to send it through whenever you ready.
It can be quite an experience putting your journey from thought to paper, it can be quite confronting for some and quite healing for others. That is why I am so thankful to all who find the strength to pass on their journeys, because it is quite a personal and at times private experience.
Thanks as always to all those who support this journey and I will keep you up to date how it is going.
I am about to send through a draft of the journeys to inspriational writer Adele Basheer who is founder for the Intrinsic label of cards, journels, paper and many many more wonderful items. She is so generously going to add some of her wonderful words into the book in hope to inspire those who read it as they peruse through the journeys. It is trully an honour for me as I have been a majour fan of her work for over 10 years so I can't wait to get her feedback.
Anyway, that is brief update and I will keep you up to date as the process continues.
Cheers and have a wonderful day... remember to take care of you

Hello all,
Just a quick litttle catch up...
All is going well on the book front.
I have finally risen out of that black hole once again and now have the drive back and the book is on its way to publication!!! HOORAY :yelclap:
Thank you so much for all the support with this wonderful dream of helping others through passing on our stories.
Please, feel free to contact me with any inquiries or if you still wish to pass on your journey, there is still plenty of time.
Take care to all of you inspiration women out there who have the power to lift so many others up with just your words.
Cheers,
Amanda
Oh that's great news!!! :yelclap: I find it so hard to write about, arrgghh, I'd love to contribute though...
Thanks for the support AM...
It is hard to write about... but AM, it is sooo inspirational to read!
So many of us feel alone, and to see into the heart of another just like us at a time when we feel so dark can help in so many ways!
Alas, the reason for the book, to help others when they feel like nothing else will... to know they are not alone... to educate family members... to help some people have a voice and express themselves...
Again, thanking everyone who has supported me and believed in the concept and how much it will help others once published.
It is still happening... the path the success is not always easy but I am persistant with a passion!!!
Cheers, Amanda :flowerz:

i suffered severe pnd with my daughter. I was one of thos people who suffered in silence, thinking i was a bad person for feeling and thinking the way i did. It literally put mine and my daughter's lives at risk.
I would love to be able to share my story to help women (and men!) who are feeling alone and as if there is no light at the end of the tunnel. I will warn now tho that some parts may be distressing but it needs to be heard to help others. I think it is wonderful you are doing something that could change women's lives for the better, and help thos who have suffered to heal.
I will email my journey to you asap :)
Hi,
It is so confronting dealing with this when such a huge life change is happening, you feel so unsure whether 'this is the way it is meant to be' or 'is something wrong'???? I focused on the first and just labelled myself a 'bad mother' and sunk into the darkness even deeper.
Thank you so much for supporting this book and the concept of helping others through telling your story, you are trully a brave and inspirational woman for sharing with us.
Take care and pass on that I am still searching for anyone who wants to submit their story in their own words...
Cheers,
Amanda
Hello all,
Thank you again so much for your wonderful support for this project that is so very close to my heart.
Sadly, I must put a 'closing' date as to any last contributions for the book.
31 July 2010 will be the 'last day' I accept any journeys for the book as I am wishing to finalise my draft to seek out an agent for publication.
Please, if you know of anyone who might contribute their journey, male, female, sibling, family member or even a friend who went through it with you, the more journeys from different voices we have even the better for getting the word out about PND and how it impacts families and individuals.
Just email any stories to my email address of ac51@bigpond.com and if you wish to be anonymous, please just put a note at the end of your story.
Again, my many many thanks to all of you who have contributed your heartfelt journey, I hope the finished product (once we get it on those shelves!!) will make you proud.
Also a huge thanks to Bubhub for being such a wonderful portal to contact, support, and link so many people suffer with PND.
With very much kind regards,
Amanda
p.s I will keep you all posted as to how it all goes and any upcoming publication dates... fingers crossed!!!
