Hi Ladies,

Newbie to MCN's here. I've run out of baby friendly detergent and I need to do a wash now so I have enough nappies for tomorrow. Can I use Soap flakes or regular detergent? I've read it needs to be enzyme free but until I can get out of the house I'm running low on options.

TIA :)

I'd be wary of soap flakes - maybe melt a small amount first in hot water and add that to the wash. However, if I was you I'd just do a wash with no detergent/soap powder at all. Just give put them through on the rinse cycle 1st and then the regular wash, time in the sun will kill off any germs and get rid of any smell.

Goodluck!

I would use a sqirt of dishwashing liquid over soap flakes. That is what you use to do a strip wash so I assume it would be safe.

I was actually thinking about dishwashing liquid. I'll have a look at the label and decide which way to go. Washing efforts have been stalled over restless hungry bub anyway.

Mmm, but with a strip wash you wash and wash until no soap/bubbles appear in the water so you are getting rid of any soap residue.

I have heard plenty of people on here say they never wash their mcn's with powder so I think that would be my 1st choice if I didn't have any of my regular powder.

Well I've gone with the dishwashing liquid but I'll do an extra rinse to make sure no suds are left behind (hard to tell in a washing machine). I think I'll make sure I have extra detergent next time LOL. I bought the 10kg regular detergent but they don't have the enzyme free in giant size. Thanks for your help ladies. Loving my MCN's!
