Hi

I unfotunatly had to give away breastfeeding a few weeks ago. My supply has been reducing (was never great to begin with) but Ive still got milk. I struggles for so long to get milk, now it wont go away

Anyway, today I have really hot boobs, both sides, no temp, theyre not red and Ive taken a little bit of milk off to try and relieve them. (( I stopped expressing and feeding a good few weeks ago)

So my question is, for those of you who had an established supply, how long did it take to dry up and were your boobs hot without it being a pre-cursor to mastitis?? Thanks :)

Maybe your body is telling you something. Have you considered re-lactating for your bubba? It is never to late to re-establish supply and feed your babe that liquid gold!!

When I stopped, I just kept cutting back.
So 1 bottle a day, until my boobs adjusted, then 2, then eventually, breast fed just at night, then every few nights. Eventually they just stopped getting engorged.. I think it only took about 4 weeks from the 1st bottle of formula til I had nothing left. I just made sure they were getting fully drained whenever bub fed.

I had to wear a feeding bra (not an underwire bra) for 2 - 3 months after I stopped BFing. My supply dried up overnight (ds was 12 months), but then a little bit came back a few days later, but I had been ready to wean him, so I didn't re-establish feeding. It was SO frustrating though, so I do understand.

Just keep expressing tiny amounts for pain relief only and watch for mastitis. I came close to mastitis a few times in the month or two after I stopped feeding - ironic as I'd never actually had it!

thanks for the advice.

Ive woken up feeling much better this morning. Theres no way I can feed katelyn off the breast now. I struggled with supply from day1 and now i barely get 5-10ml if im lucky. Katelyn has been refusing the breast for a good month now. We got to nearly 5 months, so im happy with that. Ive made the decision, it was just not going to work. It was causing me too much stress. Ive tried it all, motilium, nipple shields, double pumping.... shes had a great start so Im very proud of that.
