there is a case of hand foot and mouth at my ds1's day care in his room. it seems like every week when i go to drop him off there is something else to look out for in case he gets it. i dont know what this illness looks like from the info i have read on the net it sounds like ulcers and cold sores
anyone out there able to give me better idea of what it is?

my boys both got it about 2 yrs ago, they had little clear blisters on the soles of their feet and their palms on their hands. they got irritable with their hands not being able to touch things. the clear blister once they pop are contagious and then the same for the feet. Be careful with the toilet too, they get blisters on their bottoms as well so be sure to wipe the toilet seat or spray with glen 20. The blisters are littler than a pin head - and just have clear fluid in them. They are really contagious before and then as the blisters pop. But make sure they don't get red rings around them as these ones are infected. My boys weren't too bad with them it was more so what they were allowed to do and play with to contain the spread - as they aren't allowed at daycare,
Hope this helps and good luch - fingers crossed you don't have to deal with it.

Our DS#1 had this when he was about 18 months. His cousin had the classic blisters on his feet and hands but our DS only developed blisters in his mouth. It was awful as his whole mouth was full of tiny blisters and he didn't want to eat. It was easily treated though and as far as I know, it doesn't cause any further side-effects.:)

the info i read on the internet says it can start off as a rash and sore throat? how soon do the blisters show up?are they sort of raised like pimples or flat?
