Just wondering....Ive just ordered $840 worth of these nappies...24 of them and was wondering what your thoughts are on these?

A friend of mine highly recommended them so I thought I would take the plunge.

Im currently doing my head in using flanelette nappies with snibs just like the hospital and am forever changing my newborns singlets and suits...shes absoloutely drenched esp in the back area.

Ive tried inserting a hemp booster cloth in them and that didnt work. Shes even had 2 leaks with disposables too! Just the thing I need at 2am

I went to the reviews section in bub hub but couldnt find any reviews on bum genius bamboo fitted nappies.

I really hope Ive made the right decision...surely these will be more absorbant than the flanelette nappies!!

Ive ordered 24 as I want to use them during the day and night and since MCN's usually take longer to dry Ive heard, I have heaps to spare to allow for drying time.

Any advice would be great :)

I havn't seen the bumgeinus bamboo fitted's before, so i'm not much help.

I have a normal BG, and it does work quite well.

sorry I havent used BG, but I'd imagine they'd be much more absorbent than your terries.

hope it all works out for you!

They are a very popular nappy with good reason.

I'm assuming you've ordered the one-size pockets? You can customise the absorbency by stuffing the pocket with bamboo boosters.

I used mine as a night nappy until DS was about 6 months, then he started out-weeing them and I had to get a proper night nappy.

ETA- Just re-read your post and saw that you said bamboo fitted, not one-size pockets.

The reason you can't find any reviews is because they are brand new. They stopped making them a few years ago and have only just re-released them. I have one- a tiny tiny newborn one that I absolutely loved. I hope you didn't get 24 extra small ones because they are SUPER tiny! Make sure that you buy some good quality covers, not crappy plastic pilchers which will cause rashes and make your bub sweat.

Personally I wouldn't buy that many of the same brand. As its been said a fair few times, every baby is different, so what works for one may not work for others.

We started out with trial packs, itti bitti, Baby Beehinds, then brought some bonnibuns, fluffy bubs (you get the picture) to find what worked best for us.

I hope they work for you, but If it were me, I would send them an email and cancel your order, just buy 2 to try and see if you like them, I would hate for you to have 24 nappies that don't work all for saving $6 in postage.

I have 3 BG pockets and find them great for my heavy wetting boys - but they are both toddlers not littlies. My eldest does explosive poos and they always have contained the mess - but when he was little and BF nothing contained it. I use them for night nappies too with a wool cover just in case but so far they have been dry on the outside.

I use BG one-size pockets and find them great. As mentioned above, they are great for my heavy-wetting boy, and I also boost them with bamboo and put a wool cover over them for night wear.

As above, I would also hesitate to buy a whole lot before you've tried them. BG are good with customer service, so give them a call and ask them if you can cancel and just order a few to try, then get more if you like them. You have to make sure the nappy fits your bub properly. As someone already said, what works for one baby might not work for another. You might also find that you can pick up some secondhand nappies on monkeys undies website to try out before you commit to buying a lot. And because the bamboo BG ones are sized, you might want to think about whether it would be better to buy some of the one-size type, so that you don't have to keep buying more every time bub outgrows the size you've bought.

I have just bought one of the newly released bamboo ones to try, too. Make sure you have a wool cover or something breathable to put over the top of it.

Good luck with it. Hope that helps.

sorry ladies got my wording wrong...I meant the pocket ones. Silly me. All the reading Ive been doing on these things has got me thinking of boosters and bamboo etc.

Maybe I should have bought only a few to begin with...hope I havent made a big mistake....as soon as they arrive Ill do a review on them. Would be handy for those that have them to do a review on them too.

I was actually considering the rumparooz fitted nappies...they were the same price and even more $$ if I got ones with cool prints on them.

Ive only just realised after more and more reading that everyones baby is of different shape and that some are more suited to skinnier babies etc. Only time will tell!!

Felt guilty about using disposables last night. At the moment shes in a flannel. Im pretty sure with these ones that I ordered I dont need an extra cover on them but that if I want to use one I could.
Just cant wait for them to arrive

I love my bum genius pockets. they are a great nappy. :D if they had snaps they would be perfect for me, we just have to make sure we put some kind of pants on him when hes wearing one so he doesnt pull it off!!

Thanks for that :)

I think I will stick with my order...it just works out so much cheaper buying the quantity that I got rather than just getting a few.

Seems like wool covers are the way to go too, Ive read so many good things about them.
Nothing worse than wet singlets and suits in the middle of the night.

BG pockets are good did you get the one size fits most or sized?

I love my Bumgenius OSFM pockets!! The only reason I don't have my whole stash in them, is because I am a nappy addict and like to have/try lots of different nappies. If I was just using MCN for practical/environmental reasons (which I am but there's also a huge cuteness factor for me) I would happily use BG pockets. Only thing is I suggest when your bub gets bigger - around 6 months or so, you might need to put a bamboo booster in - especially at night.

Good purchase!!

I hope so. just wanted to say I did get the one size ones...newborn through to toddler. I know the sized ones are usually cheaper in pretty much any brand u get but didnt want to run out...plus the fact that u can use them all the way through to toddler age sounds really good.

I've used mine from newborn to 10 months so far. I wouldn't buy the sized ones - they don't look like they'd hold much wee to me.

I agree that the OSFM pockets are fantastic. We are still using them on the medium setting on our 11 month old. We do put a bamboo booster in them for naps and 2 for overnight, though, and they work well. They dry so quickly and are so quick and easy to stuff. Great purchase! I hope you love them.

I've not tried the new version of these (with the separate newborn insert) just the V2s, but absolutely love them. They are our real horsework nappy that just go on for hours after anything else would have leaked/wicked.
So in my mind you've made a good purchase. That said, being a cloth addict myself, I find them a bit boring, and would be tempted to maybe sell a few unused and get some pretty fluff in your stash too ;)

And the only other thing I can think of is that when DD was between 18-24 months (she PT'd herself when she turned 2) I'd add an extra hemp insert underneath the microfibre insert to make it that little bit more absorbant as microfibre acts likes a sponge when it gets saturated when its drenched and it just squeezes out, hemp will solve that problem.
