View Full Version : im taking the plunge
 Hi I thought I would quickly introduce myself to everyone in this section
I have decided to stop thinking about it and start doing, im going to use cloth nappies, I think they are so cute and I cant wait to start.
Im thinking of buying some Bitti D'Lish Snap in One's to start of with and maybe getting some other AIO's from ebay
as you can tell atm i have no idea were to start so i was wondering if
a) you could give me some pointers to help get me started like what do i need and how many etc or
b) point me in the direction on where to find this info (im sure there have been many threads on cloth nappy basics, i just couldnt find them)
TIA
congrats on taking the plunge , it really isn't as hard as it first seems . It seems to me to be easier to do it full time rather then part time as the nappy bucket fills in a day and a half so they don't need to sit around for long before I have a full load .
Your DS is about the same age as my DD and we are using itti d'lish snap ins in medium , they are our favourites . grab yourself some extra snapin inserts as the outer shell of the nappy dries really quickly and you can reuse it with extra inserts while the others are drying .
Be careful about buying off ebay , I have heard some horror stories . Maybe just try one first before you buy up big .
i think at this young age you would need around 20 nappies - you can get away with less if you have extra snap ins . In winter i would have a few more but with this warmer weather i am finding my nappies are drying in a day instead of two .
I am pretty sure there are a couple of sticky posts up explaining the in and outs of cloth nappying , but if you are unsure on anything just ask and we will all help you out .

Firstly, congratulations on taking the plunge into the wonderful world of MCN.
Because you are in Melbourne, i would advise you to do your research, and then go to the PBC expo in Melb (from the 16-18th Oct) and do your buying there, there will be heaps of discounts and it will give you a chance to check them out, as well as save on postage.
Here is some great info from some of the 'stickies' located in this section of bub hub
http://www.bubhub.com.au/community/forums/showthread.php?t=62852
Oz cloth nappies, also has some great information.
Itti's are great, im not so sure about the Ebay ones,
We started with Itti Bittis, there great.
I would caution against ones of ebay, lots of them use cotton terry which isn't very absorbent and bulky. They also aren't great quality.
I would recommend getting trial packs to see what works for your bub. Baby Beehinds, Itti Bitti, Issy Bear, Bonni Buns are all good places to start. If your looking for something a little cheaper to start off with, Eco Mums and Bubs has a sale on atm with their one size pocket nappy which are actually quite good, and at $18 not a bad price either.
Goodluck with your cloth journey, were all here to answer you questions whilst you get started. You will be an addict in no time!
Thanks for the advice everyone, we will definately be staying away from the ebay ones for now, im ordering a trial pack from itti bitti and some other brands too so we will see what works best for us
