Hi All

Just wondering if there is anyone else out there in a similar situation to myself. Basically I am now 35 years old and after pushing back my "deadline" for settling down and having a family I found myself in what seems to be a common situation of being single and aware that my biological clock was ticking loudly!

Long story short ... I bit the bullet and decided to have a child on my own and after investigating was artificially inseminated with donor sperm at the beginning of the year. I am now 36 weeks pregnant and due beginning of November and cannot wait.

Are there any other single women out there that find themselves in a similar situation?

:shame: I don't want to sound rude but I know some people will not agree with my decision but I ask that you please keep those opinions to yourself as I'm really just interested in hearing from those that find themselves in a similar situation or considering a similar solution - I really don't need a lecture in morality - thanks!!

Congratulations! How exciting for you. Have you found the single mothers by choice, Australia, website? They are a whole pack of women who have done/are doing the same as you.

I am a lone parent to a fabulous nearly one year old; her father left Australia when I was a few weeks pregnant. I'm looking at using a donor so that my daughter can have a sibling. Oddly enough, although I'm in Melbourne I'm talking to clinics in Brisbane, as they are more accommodating to my requirements. Sooo many questions for you...Did it take you many attempts to become pregnant? Do you know what you're having? Who is your birth support?

Feel free to come on into the single 30 somethings thread - we've been going a while but we're friendly. Most of us don't have involved FOBs.

Congratulations. I'm not a SMBC (FOB did a runner when I was 6 weeks). But I have several friends who are and one of my best friends is planning on trying in November.
Yeah come join us in the 30+ singles thread. Be great to have another birth for us all to get excited about.

Hi Guys - thanks so much for your support - will definitely jump into the thread. Just went the AI route rather than full on IVF as don't have fertility problems and actually got pregnant on the first try which was a bit of a shock as I assumed it might take a few goes! My sister and niece (she's 24 with 2 kids of her own) are both supporting me through the birth and then my parents who live in the UK are coming over in a week or so for the first few months so lots of family support which will be good. Expect the real challenge will be once everyone has gone back home and I'm truly on my own but will cross that bridge when I get to it!

Am having a boy and due on 3rd November so any day now really - hoping sooner rather than later as they are saying he is already 7lb 5oz!!
