 Hello everyone
This is an extension of the "Young mums and mums to be" thread as there were a few of you who seemed interested but I don't think we were making much head way to actually organize something. :)
I think Wednesday every second week was a good day for most (let us know if you prefer another day). So it doesn't clash with the Roma St playgroup (next wednesday) we could do the alternative weeks. Or I am happy with any other day except every second Monday.
Add a post as to what day suits best and we can go from there.:)
Wednesday's are great for me!

Hi everyone  ,
I am interested in meeting up with some young mums also. I am 22 with a 6 month old daughter. I am SAHM so any day suits me. I live in Ormiston and am happy to drive, but do not know my way around the Northside so I would be happy with something that was more on the Southside.
Mel
Just about any day is good for us (me 22, DD 17months, DD2 due 5 weeks:smiliedance: ) Just wondering where on the south side you were thinking of having it?

I would love to catch up! I'm 20 with a 6mth DD and live at logan. I have my own transport but honestly would rather stay on the southside, Indro is a little far for me, maybe we could make another day to meet somewhere around Mt Gravatt that way it's pretty central for everyone! Hope to catch up soon!

Unfortunatley I can't do Wednesday. I am getting blood tests done  I am happy with either Indro or Mt Gravatt, although Indro is closer for me if we do it another day too.
This week is a bit busy for me but I was thinking of having a playday at my place in Forest Lake next Wednesday if there is much interest as at someones home is easier with a toddler.
I will put a thread up closer to the day but if you are interested either leave a post hear or PM me.
Indro is an ok location although i would definetly prefer Mt. Gravatt as well.
Wednesdays are good for me although tomorrow is probably a bit soon to have it organised.

How about next wednesday then 26th...maybe at your place youngbrismum? or mine in jindalee...being at someones house probably is easier although somtimes its good to get out! hope everyone can make it then...we'll decide a time closer to the day.
The 26th is good for me....not too sure about the locations though. I would prefer somewhere slightly closer to the city.
I'm still interested though and will keep an eye on the post to see what is decided.
I'll be living in either Brisbane or the Gold Coast in 2 months, so I'll be interested once I'm there. I'll keep an eye on the post and hopefully see you when I'm there! :)
hi i'd love to go on 26th, but where abouts and morning or afternoon? my DS has an appointment on that afternoon.
is it going to be good location for public transport users?
archiesmum
23-07-2006, 09:44
so next wednesday the 26th is looking good for people....now we just need to decide where is easiest for people and especially those using public transport.
below i'll put some places and then, if you just quote me in your reply, put a smiley face next to where is best for you...hopefully we'll be able to see then where is best for the majority. indro is best for me as i don't know where mt gravatt is although i do have a referdex! feel free to add on somewhere else if you think its better!
Indooroopilly: :)
Mt Gravatt:

Either is ok for me although I would prefer Indro so:
Indooroopilly
Mt Gravatt :)
Morningish is also good if I can fight off the morning sickness that has struck this week...:barf:
I am dropping my darling man at Ashgrove and have to pick him up again a few hours later so would love a time waster (although I am sure it won't be a waste of time :)
I will check back before Wednesday to see what the plan is.

[quote=youngbrismum]Either is ok for me although I would prefer Indro so:

Mt Gravatt
so its two for indro and morning is better i think for all...what does everyone feel?
Either is ok for me as well. I would prefer Mt Gravatt though.
either is ok with me, but mt gravatt is probly easier for me coz i got an apt at QE2 hospital just after lunch.

Sorry ladies that I didn't get back to this post. This morning sickness is rotten and far worse than with Samarra's pregnancy.
I would like to reschedule but don't think I can make any promises.
If we are going to reschedule how about we try for wednesday in another fortnight...the 9th of August?
If we are going to Mt. Gravatt, we could just meet at Garden City and go for Coffee or something? I'm not sure what everyone wanted to do and i don't really know of any parks or anything in the area....so any idea's anyone?

hi guys...i'm going home to london next wednesday for two and a half months so obviously won't be around for a while! if you get something started hopefully i'll be able to join in when i get back....
till then take care everyone
hey everyone. not sure what parks there are in mt gravatt but i know there is an ok one at sunnybank, just near the train station. its called les atkinson park. my son loves it, its got swings and stuff, lots of grass, a little boardwalk thru the bush, and most importantly DUCKS!!! lol which is always a favourite with the little ones.
just thought id throw that in as a suggestion.
but i will try to find some parks in the mt gravatt area.
We could always just make it at Sunnybank if the location suits everyone?
It's ok with me....just have to figure out how to get there.
les atkinson park is on beenleigh rd. (cnr beenleigh and stones rds). the sunnybank train station is just behing the park also.

hey Alicia...we haven't actually got a group going yet...was the reason the thread started though.
I'm still keen to meet up if anyone else is? I'm just down the road from carina so i would be happy with somewhere like carindale or mt. gravatt...although i am willing to travel a bit further if everyone else wants another location?
hey i'm in sunnybank hills. i'm still interested, but i generally have to travel by public transport so anywhere close to bus/train station is good for me.
What do guys think of Garden City? It's pretty easily accessible by public transport from most places. We could have coffee/ drink or something? There is a little indoor playground thing upstairs as well for the kids.
What do you guys think?
yeah i can get there very easily so it sounds good to me.
also when are we going to do this? perhaps next week sometime?? preferably wednesday or later. (dont get paid til wednesday lol)
I can't make this wednesday but could make the next one (23rd). I'm free pretty much free all the time except Thursdays and sundays.
What days suit everyone?
any day suits me, every second week tho i go to browns plains group, and that day changes, so if we start from 23rd like u suggested and maybe do every 2nd week or something that could be good....
maybe we could find a park somewhere to meet.

This Wednesday is still good for me or we could make it this friday if you guys want more time to plan it?
If it is still at Garden City how about meeting at around 10:30/11:00 maybe outside toys'r'us cause it is close to the buses?
I can't really get on the net too often but i will try and get on tomorrow and see what has been decided.

 Well... it seems there may have been better offers today for some of us instead of meeting at Garden City!
At least one other person did show up... mumE (hope I got that right  ) I had a great day. Chloe was a little loud at times but it was so nice to meet you.
Shall we organise another day for those who couldn't make it? I'm not sure where, Garden city again maybe... but it gets a little hard with the prams (especially mine's like pushing a shopping trolley!)
What does everyone think?
Ash:smiliedance:
Hey, thanx so much for all those wonderful people who showed up today. NOT!!! :shame:
Ash, it was good to meet you and M.......a? I'm always up at Garden City or the Hyperdome so just let me know when and i'll be there. Thursday is playgroup though
Hey guys im sorry i didnt make it. Friday was the day from hell! Aiden was grumpy, dp was sick (and we all know what sick mean are like, always dieing!!)
I would like to meet you another time tho. Perhaps we could try again for next week?? maybe at a park or something, its a bit easier with prams.
I showed up. I ended up being a bit late though cause i couldn't find a park anywhere.
The only other person there was one of the other mums that showed up late as well.
What a shame. Three mums waited until 11.30am, but i do know how busy G'city can get

Hey, id love to met some other young bris mums, i dont know many at all...
Im always at hyperdome (i go to the gym there) and often to garden city too. Can we make another meet up? im happy to organise one if need be.
Pretty please ... ?

30-08-2006, 10:39
We should arrange a meeting for mums in brissy south soon. I don't know anywhere cos i'm new does anyone have any suggestions of a place and a time. Cos I would love to meet some other mums to hang out with. I am close to the hyperdome. Is garden city at browns plains cos i'm close to that as well sort of in between the two.
omg that really sucks. I would have been there by about 11:30. I saw two youngish looking mum's walking not too far away from toys'r'us when i got there, maybe that was you guys?
Chlo-Bo's Mummy
02-09-2006, 09:20
There were 3 of us so that probably wasn't us, but we wouldn't have been too far away! We should arrange to meet at an actual spot we could stay a while to wait next time, maybe at Gloria Jeans, or the Coffee club!
Weds or Thurs next week are the best for me, and any day the week after. I'm not sure if the shops or a park is better, a park may be a bit soggy next week from all this rain. But there is a nice big park near me if meadowbrook sounds ok.
BTW mummygretel, Garden City is at Mt Gravatt!
:smiliedance:
ok since this seems to have come to a halt. i am going to take my son to his favourite park next wednesday (13th sept) if anyone would like to come along we can have another attempt at meeting everyone!
the park is Les Atkinson Park, its at sunnybank hills. On beenleigh rd, cnr beenleigh and stones.
Sunnybank train station is just behind the park also if that helps anyone.
there are ducks so if anyone is coming and you have any old bread bring it along, if not i have plenty to go around:laughing:
we will get there around 10.30-11amish. but if its raining we wont be going:no:
I wouldn't mind going but i just moved over to the northside...so it might be a bit far now. Will be moving back to the southside soon enough though so will keep an eye on this thread.

It seems as though we are not getting anywhere organising another meet up. Garden City seemed to be a good place to meet, does that still suit everyone? I am free all week except Wednesday next week. So lets organise a time and I will be there!!
I'll be there. I can't do Wed or Thurs. G'city is easy, no wet grass and we can still go if it rains

I'm free every day except thursday.

How about Monday? Sounds good to me... about 11? We should do something to our prams or meet somewhere there wont be people just standing around because it gets so confusing. haha we should have a special signal... but i dont know what!
:smiliedance:
My little Chloe is nearly 8 months!
I actually have an appointment on monday so i won't be able to make it. I am only free on Tuesday and Friday of next week.
Chlo-Bo's Mummy
14-09-2006, 11:28
Tueday sounds like it might work. Does 11 suit most people, coz we could make it the afternoon. Chloe gets a bit cranky if it is too late though! and where will we meet?
tuesday at 11 sounds great! How about we meet at Gloria Jeans?
Chlo-Bo's Mummy
15-09-2006, 12:52
Gloria Jeans might be ok if there isn't too many people coming, there isn't really much room for prams inside or out the front. Last time we had lunch at a restaurant right outside the door near Toy R Us outside near the cinemas, we could meet there again maybe? I cant remember the name of the place though...they have nice chippies!!!
Tuesday at 11 sounds good to me! I was just starting to think about what i was going to do on tuesday to get out of the house for the morning!
i have my ribbons now so i will put one on the pram and one on the bag (elmo)!! so long as aiden doesnt destroy anymore of them:laughing:
I actually don't think i will be able to make tomorrow as i probably won't have my car. I will definetly try and make the next one though.
we wont be able to make it today sorry.
Hello All!
Starting on the 9th October, a series of workshops around self-employment will be run for young mothers in the City. The Body Shop, together with the Australian Government Department of Education, Science and Training are running this program for enterprising young mothers to assist in developing alternate income streams. The program will provide opportunities to discover innovation and self-employment as an option outside of the mainstream workforce. You bring your ideas, or just a willingness to 'think outside the square'!
There will be free child-care and it is only a minutes walk from Central train station.
If you have ever had the desire to create and run your own business, then don't miss out on this opportunity to discover how it could be possible!
Please contact Katie Bennett on 0404 367 699
or email ktndt@hotmail.com for more information!
hey. i dont know if anyone is interested but if you are, we should have a meet up at garden city again or a park would be better. 11th,12th and 26th arent good for me, but other than that i think anytime would be good.
i hope we can catch up sometime.
I'm over the same people pulling out at the last minute, so i won't hold my breath. I won't be attending.
Well im sorry that you feel that way MUME, but sometimes things dont always go to plan when there are young children involved. Im sure you can understand that. I know that often things are VERY crazy here, especially with our car playing up so much and dp being a shift worker, so we often dont get to do things we originally planned on doing.
Thanks NEEKY for taking the time to explain yourself. But i already understand that some people are just naturally unorganised.
It's ok though, at some point you'll work out a system that works for you.
Hope your meet up goes well
