9 year old giving birth???

my husband works in radio and was recently told about a 9 year old giving birth in brazil or something!:eek:

has anyone else heard of this? what are your thoughts on it?

i personaly think this "WHAT THE HELL IS A 9 YEAR OLD HAVING SEX FOR?" but then it may not have been he choice....

i danno what do you guys think?

I can't believe it! Only 9 years old! I probably didn't even know what sex was then lol.

A baby having a baby! I mean, 15, 16 years old etc is fine...but 9?? She's just a little girl who should be enjoying her childhood without having to be responsible for a child! :eek:

This poor 9yr old has been thrust into something (motherhood) that even I myself at the age of 30 is having a hard time adjusting to. Not to mention the emotional scars that the rape will leave her with.

yes i read about this too, apparently she was from a tribe of some sort, its very sad, what year would that be like year 3 or something? I couldnt imagine even having my periods that young!

Infact there are girls in Africa that are giving birth at age 12. There bodys aren't developed enough to handle it. In most cases the girl goes into labour & labours for up to a week before the baby is born. The baby actually dies inside & when its head becomes small enough she can the give birth to it.

:( It breaks my heart. Then the girls are left with a fistula (a hole in the bowels/bladder thats leaks urine & foeces into the vagina.) In most cases these girls never recieve help & become social outcasts.

If you click on the link and read the rest of the story it does say that the girl was found by labourers and taken to hospital where she had a Caesarean. Poor girl must have been so scarred.

I’ve watched a lot of documentaries on stories like this, and yes most were filmed, based in the Amazon, South America. They have very different beliefs to us, And most of those young girls are brought up from a young age learning about sex, experiencing sex.
Some even at an age where your child would still be playing with barbies.
I watched one where the girl’s were mainly 11, or 12. But I still found that to be young, but apparently very normal within their tribe. The tribes midwifes were even teaching young girls, as young as five about being a midwife and even these young girls new exactly what was happening during birth.

I do feel sorry for the poor nine year old and the five year old. I don’t think within those tribes they have much knowledge about reproduction, only what they see, they don’t have microscopes and science labs to run tests and prove how dangerous it is for young girls, especially if they’ve only been menstruating for a short period of time, It doesn’t mean their bodies are completely ready for reproduction.
But yes if it was due to rape. I’d be worried about the girl’s mental state. And hope she has plenty of help to get her through it.

I feel sicked by this story. But for centuries young girls have been married off sent to harems and inslaved in prostitution at very young ages. Having children at a very young age is still quiet common in the non western world.

That is so wrong. I mean it would be hard enough to have your period at five years old let alone being pregnant and giving birth. I Agree with what Ashleigh<3 said.. This isn't a normal western civilisation that we know.. this is a tribe in the Amazons. Completely different world.
SURE ask your 9 year old if they want sex and they'll say not, but that's a typicaly 6 year old in the western civ.

While I don't think that putting a child through the pain of labour - especially when their bodies are not yet equipped for it - is something that should be done nor condoned, you have to realise this isn't the culture that -we- know and are brought up in.
