View Full Version : hemp boosters
i just invested in some zappy nappys. i have some extra flanellette to make some additional pads but i'm curious about the hemp boosters.
is it just layers of regular hemp fabric (the slightly rough until washed a million times and gets soft) sewn into a pad??? or something more complicated?
cause i have tons of hemp fabric that I'm not planning on making into clothes anytime soon and would love to be able to use it for jarrahs bum!

I use my Zappys with my homemade hemp boosters and it makes them last alot longer - you can also use some other kind of booster, but it sound's like you might as well use the hemp since you've got it! You might want to use a liner with them as well - they're a nightmare to get poo out of
Hmmm, you could sew together a few layers of hemp and a fleece layer on top as a liner. Just a thought to add to Tea Lady's comments.
Lucky you.
p4purple - i got the hemp in canada and thailand and kept meaning to make something pretty......
thanks 4 the poo tip tea lady, we have 5 zappys and the rest are terry squares, so havent had a zappy poo yet!! but i will have to remember the liners
and the fleece/hemp combo is a great idea. i just got some fleece the other day. feeling very crafty!!

Just another thought - hemp takes ages to dry, so I make my boosters quite big and thin and then fold them to fit the nappy - this means there are fewer layers drying - although the Zappys themselves take ages, so maybe it wouldn't matter. The boosters are really great in flat nappies too! Happy sewing :)
