it's a bit sad isn't it, that after all the trouble and effort and hard work that mum's put it the first word is usually dad!!

HOORAY for Jake!!

My DD has figured out when to say Mum now.. when she is protesting or wants me (or something else...). Her first word was Dad Dad, but now she never says it. She says Bye Bye and waves  which is sooooooooo cute, and when our relatives ring us, we put DD on the phone and tell her to say bye bye, which she does!

Oh its so amazing how quickly these little babies of ours grow up!!

:smiliedance: Yay for Jake!!

Its so exciting when they start to talk. My DF used to ring me from work every day and ask if she has said Dad today

My DD's first word was Dad Dad...like YummyMummy's DD she only says Mum when she wants something. She also says Nan and Ta.

hi hollie and ali and jake's mum

should i be worried?? all your bubs aren't too much different in age from DS and they can all say more words and things than DS can. he doesn't even wave.

ok, what am i doing wrong??

(ps, i work full time so he doesn't get the benefit of full on mummy stimulation and education constantly and his daycare mum lets him play with the other kids mostly or on his own)

Dont worry!!

My good friend has a little boy who turns 1 this month and all he says is "bub bub bub".. and thats it!

Alot of people say that boys develop a little slower than girls? Not sure. But I wouldn't worry yourself about it, and certainly dont think you're doing something wrong, soon enough he'll be talking so much you'll want him to be quiet!:D

Yep i agree DONT WORRY!!

Friend on mines son is 18 months and only saying dad and nan.

Now that Jake is saying dad you will be shocked at how quickly the other words will start coming.

I think the reason my DD starting saying mum and nan so quickly was because when i feed her i say one for dad, one for mum ect with each spoon full of food she eats... she thinks its a fun game and it is also teaching her new words.

dont get too caught up in words...my DS is 19mths and only really started saying anything decipherable over the last couple of months and for a while there it was only 'cat', I would say he now has maybe only about 10-15words...but he can climb and do all sorts of other gross motor skills and totaly understands what we are saying to him so Im not worried as I can see the language is coming if not a little slower than say girls or some other boys who cant do the same gross skills as he can
oh and we thought he was saying mumma and dadda months ago but i think it was just practising sounds
