This is probably gonna make me sound lazy...but oh well...
I leave out a lunchbox with some food for DS (3yrs old) to have when he wakes up in the morning, usually about 6am, it's usually stuff that I would give him for morning tea...he has cereal/toast at about 9am, so they are kinda just swapped around.

I'm just after some suggestions of stuff to leave him, he's not allowed to get stuff outta the fridge yet so that kinda limits things.

Usually I leave a combination of the following:
- Fruit stick
- Muesli bar
- Corn thins, with or without spread
- Sandwich
- Sultanas
- Banana chips
- Water crackers/jatz/saos...or similar
- Kiwi fruit/strawberries/banana, any fruit that is ok at room temp. (he wont eat apples unless they are peeled and cut.)

I also leave him a drink bottle of water.

Any suggestions would be appreciated :)

I have to say that is a pretty good idea, I am gonna think about it!!!
:chef: have to think of something that can stay at room temp....
Maybe even the breakfast bars you can buy pre-made for another thing.
You can buy some really nutritional ones some even more nutritional than some of the breakfast cereals you can buy.

Cwsmum i have to say thankyou for a brilliant idea !!

I reckon i could leave an assortment of foods out for Samuel and he would eat and play happily for a while, leaving me to sleep more

Oh and i think your snack ideas are fine personally

Without wanting to offend, when children choke they usually choke quietly, and should really be supervised when eating.

DH is usually up, getting ready for work, when DS is eating, he's just waaaay too lazy to get DS proper breakfast so it's easier for me to leave him something. Also, DS is pretty good, he always sits when he's eating, and he nibbles tiny bites....I know there's always a risk he may choke and sitting down isn't going to completly remove the risk, but it definatly makes it less of a problem.

Yes my husband works night shift too, and he is always up when my DS gets up... My have come out and seen DS eating weetbix with no milk
potato chips and all sorts of unhealthy foods, thats why I have to get up, But this is a fantastic idea!!! I will not have to worry if there is a half decent brecky there
