View Full Version : looking for best pram to suit toddler and baby
DD is almost 2 and baby #2 is due in December and I am looking into double prams to accommodate them.
We have a MacLaren stroller and a Valco Tri Mode now and I was going to get a toddler seat for the tri mode but have been told by a friend that they can become very hard to move around and unstable on some surfaces particularly as the toddler grows heavier. She hated it so much she went out and bought a philandteds. my concern with the philandteds is the lack of storage. I have a small kids backpack I use (and love the handiness of) in place of a nappy bag and there would be no where to store it nor any shopping bags that one might accumulate!
Does anyone have any experiences with double prams and can recommend one that is easy to put up and down, doesnt take up too much space (although we do have a big car so we can be a bit forgiving in this area), but has some sort of storage space...?
Thanks

Hi
I dont know much about the double prams, but I do have a valco runabout tri mode with the toddler seat. I would NOT recommend it to anyone. DS is nearly 20kg (still within the weight limit on the toddler seat) and just by leaning too far to the side has tipped the pram over 3 times and once it goes down its hard to get back up. It is also very hard to get around corners. If I could have a do over I would go for a side by side.
Good luck

Yep that's my recommendation too. Brilliant pram.
My two are 20 months apart. I bought a Phil & Teds Sport, you are right storage is an issue. I use this now just for walking but do regret buying it.
I ended up last week buying a cheap side by side stroller (Valco Double delight) was $209 from toys r us.
Had I not bought the P&T I probably could have justified spending the money on a more expensive pram but really this one does exactly what I need without the price tag so hubby is happy too (particularly as this is my fourth pram :o)

I have a Adventure Buggy and love it.
If your in melbourne you could probably get one fairly easily and relatively cheaply on ebay, otherwise with a static toddler seat new they're around $1100. (with a reclining toddler seat they're $1200)
Though it doesn't collapse down very small. I've never actually collapsed mine because I dont drive, but I hear it can be an issue to get it into a boot - but, weight wise, I have a reclining toddler seat on top and the total weight is 14kgs, which isn't bad for the size of it.
Storage is good, all the pockets are really handy and you dont have the issue with a phil and ted and not being able to hang groceries off the back - but its that same concept of a single pram that converts to a double.
I just love the fact that on Saturday a friend and I went to the city and we were going through a narrow check out and her in her SINGLE pram couldn't fit, but me in my adventure buggy glided through. Love it!
