I know of several people in my circle of family and friends who have had either issues themselves or sons with issues which ultimately resulted in circumcision to solve.

The one that really hit home for me was a family friend who had two boys (uncircumcised). Their eldest at the time was 8, the other 5. The 8 year old began having recurring infections that was causing him great pain. Both parents did the best they could to keep it clean to prevent the infections coming back, but it just kept happening. He even had a little container of salt water that he took with him to school so that he could clean it throughout the day.
It eventually got too much for him (the 8yo), and he asked his parents if he could get it fixed by getting circumcised. He did.
Both his parents (especially his dad) were heartbroken at having to watch their boy go through this recurring pain and embarrassment. They then regretted not doing it while he was a baby. They also had thoughts of doing their other son at the same time - but decided to 'roll the dice' and hope that he'd escape the same problems.

Any one else have similar experiences/stories of foreskin related problems?

There have been several foreskin problems throughout my family and DF's family, the most recent being, my DF's 3yo nephew has a problem where his foreskin is too tight and causes him pain when he pees, he has to be circ'ed soon. My SIL feels bad for not getting him done when he was born. This is one of the reasons i got my DS circ'ed.

No member of my family has required circumcision.

Yes my two nephews both have/had foreskin problems.

Oldest because his foreskin was removed and they took to much creating lots of scar tissue and damage.

Other nephew was left uncirc'd and at around the age of three till about five, he had a few infections. My sister was worried he would have to be circ'd. We just put him in salt baths (which he enjoyed as he loved prolonged bath play), and then put some prescribed cream in his penis. The Dr said, once upon a time they would have circ'd for it, but it was unecessary, and he would outgrow it. And what do you know, he has, and he is now 9yrs and hasn't had a problem for a long time.:)

Yes my DH's older brother, who at the time was about 2 foreskin was coming away from the shaft so his mother unknowingly thought it was ok to pull it all the way back and split the skin, and the desion to totally remove the foreskin was made. After that happen she also got DH circ, she couldnt have gone through something like that again

I have had a friend who needed to circ both her boys at 4 yrs and 2yr. The 4 yr old was refered when he was 2 to get circ due to forskin problems from memory I'm pretty sure it was to tight. The mum waited than her 2nd son was born and the same thing happened to him. So they were both circed together

 I thought that foreskins aren't able to be retracted until age 5 - 10  How would they know it's too tight on a 4 year old? :detective:

Tysonsmummy- They can retract at birth. 4 is common.

My sons was tight due to infection around 18 months. 6years later he hasnt outgrown the infections and the next one will be the last the poor boy suffers as he will be circ'd if it happens again.
