View Full Version : Breastfed bub and sippy cups?
How old was your bub when they started to drink from a sippy cup?
DD is 9 months and still just chews them but all my boys (bottle fed) where exclusively drinking from sippy cups at 10 months.
I'm hoping to just breastfeed DD in the morning and at night after Christmas when she is one. So really need her to drink from a sippy cup. Not sure what to try.

DD took her EBM from one at 4 months by necessity cause she wouldn't take a bottle at all.
Are you talking about having them hold and drink from one by themselves, or whether you can hold it for them? Almost all babies can drink from a sippy cup if you hold it to their mouth while they lap it up.
I'm hoping she will just suck at it and drink properly even if I have to hold it, but she just chews it. I haven't really had any problems with the boys and they could hold it and drink at 10 months.

We started using one of those ones with the straw and handles from about 7 or 8 months.
we tried a couple of different types (spout ones) but he likes the straw.
Maybe try different cups, and just keep offering until she gets the hang of it.
Hiya Fozzie, another Dec 08 mum here.
DS2 is just starting to drink a little water out of the Tupperware sippy cups. Like your little one, he just chewed the others but I think because the Tupperware cup flows easier he prefers it. Saying that, he still isn't drinking anything substantial but we will get there.
