Hi, ours arrived a few days after the payment came out of DH's account so I would definitely be chasing this up. We're in NSW.. not sure if it's the same in all states of course.

We got ours about 10 weeks after submitting paperwork (NSW) and from memory I think payment came off card about 2 weeks after submitting paperwork.

I think it depends largely on if you ordered a commemorative cert or not because if you did the wait is huge.

Good point Heidi we didnt order the commemorative cert as we were in a rush to get a passport

Hi - we sent off for both in June, the payment came off about 2 weeks later, the official one took from memory about a month and the commemorative one was probably nearer two months. We are in Victoria - I'd chase it up, there is no harm in asking.

We got ours about a month after payment came out, which was about 2 weeks after they were sent. Turns out DP did not spell his middle name right and insisted to me that it was correct when I asked to double check. It is ok though, if they need a passport we will just use my birth cert instead of his.

Ours took a little while too - a few months as well for both certificates.

I remember calling them about my marriage certificate a few years ago as same thing had happened, payment came out months before but no certificate... apparently the certificate was printed and waiting to be taken to someone to sign, "which could take up to two weeks.... " Think it turned up a month later!!! Gotta love the efficiencies these days hey?... :D

We got the commemorative one, and it took a while to arrive this time.

IT took so long when we got the postal advice, thing (because we were not home) I got up hubby cause I wanted to know what he had ordered this time!

DH submitted DSs the week he was born (mid June) and it still hasn't arrived. A friends bub was born the day after ours and they still haven't gotten theirs either.

Ours is just the 'normal' one, DH forgot to order the pretty one , and we're in QLD.

Above mentioned friend called and they told her it would be 9-12 weeks (which has now passed). Here's hoping us talking about it today means they'll arrive in todays post!

Anyone still waiting?

I've rung FOUR times and been told
"Yes, we got your payment"
"It's being sent out"
"It's been sent out"
"Hold on, I'll check".

Still no. Six months later and still nothing!!!

Hi ,

We're still waiting but not on their behalf :o.

My DH missed a digit on the payment section so bub has been registered but we now have to resend in the forms to get a printed copy of the certificate, at least now I can order the commemorative one!

I was hoping yours had arrived by now, how rude!

The payment came out in July... so that would mean she is at least registered and I just haven't received the bc? You would think...

My sister left out her daughters last name on theirs, so she sent it back but at least she has some sort of acknowledgment that they have done something...

Sort of annoying.

You know you'll probably get yours before me lol and I'll get Newbie's just in time to be able to get her drivers license....

Ohhh don't get me statrted on BD&M!!! We ordered and paid for ours in Jan this year.. in April, I rang to chase them up and they said they would be sent out in a few weeks. In July... still nothing, so I called again and although they are sent via "registered post" they couldn't tell me where they were and what happened to them so they ordered a re-print which means someone could have official copies of DS's birth certificate!!! Anyway, I waited and waited and eventually (after another follow-up call in September) We got the 'normal' certificate at the end of September. The problem is, we had also ordered and paid for 2 commemorative certificates which didn't arrive so once again, I was on the phone to them... they finally arrived in Ocotber. They were the wrong ones but I'm over it. The whole thing was so much trouble and the worst part is, we'll probably never know who has got the original copies of DS's birth certificates! I don't know what to do about that... in the future someone could steal his identity or anything! Maybe I'm being paranoid but I'm very disappointed in the whole system!

Extremely annoying! While I can't really complain because it was a stuff up on our behalf I am a little annoyed that they didn't attempt to contact us about the problem with the numbers, it was obvious we'd attempted to order the certificate so why not ring or send a letter so we could rectify it? But at least we haven't sent money out and have nothing to show for it, someone is earning a nice little bit of interest on your money!

Who knows how it'll play out, :fingerscrossed: Newbie won't have to hold off on her license until it arrives, that would be one very p!ssed teen :p!!!

That is unreal!!! Why the heck to we pay for registered mail if they can't trace it? How horrible for you, I'd be concerned about where it may be and what may happen in the future. Here's hoping it magically appears soon and you'll have two! Good luck.

It's sent by registered mail, so I'd be calling and if they say it's sent, ask for the tracking number then you can see if they're telling porkies.. and if they give it to you, call Aus post!
We sent Eva's out at the start of June and it was received, not sure how long later, but it wasn't TOO long from what I recall. (and I'm in QLD)

Yes, I know it's registered but they still managed to lose it! Apparently their system says they were returned to them and they can't find them. I guess I could call again and ask for a tracking number... I think if I get DS's passport sorted out we should be fine. A birth certificate alone can not give you 100 points of ID so whoever had it would need something else of his to do any damage... I hope!

You guys are not going to believe this!! Guess what turned up in the mail on Monday?! The FIRST lot of birth certificates. So now we have two copies  It says they were paid for in Jan printed in Feb and we only got them in Nov after at least 6 calls to BDM and duplicate copies arriving in Sept!

I think the issue is that they have no competitors so they really don't care when you complain because it's not like you're going to take your business elsewhere.

Mine should be here in two weeks. I'm less than impressed but I'm playing it cool....

My sister got the birth certificate for her daughter today. Her daughter was born in August... just sayin is all.
