View Full Version : Process
Hi not sure if this is the best place to post this but was wondering if anyone can enlighten me on the process involved during pg/birth in Sydney. I am due late Feb/early March and have recently moved over from the UK and really dont' know where to start. I am most probably going to have a homebirth so understand about contacting an independent m/w which I have started but was wondering about scans/tests/gps etc and how everyone goes about these things. (I know the processes will probably be different from area to area and type of birth wanted but would love to hear everyones scenarios).
Thanks
Zan

Hi Zan, congratulations and welcome to Oz.
I am not doing a home birth but thought i'd let you know what my process was.....
- went to gp to confirm pg, urine test and maybe blood test depending on gp
- gp provides referral to obstetrician if going privately
- obstetrician then handles all referrals for scans etc
- Medicare is a big part of the process whether you go private or public
I don't know how much help this has been... I tend to just let the ob handle it. Perhaps you could try googling "home births sydney" and see what it comes up with.
Good luck and check out our other thread if you want to join in the chat with all us other expectant march mums
Cheers

Hi Zan,
Welcome,
I was going to do a homebirth... just got sick of so many peoiple giving me negative **** about it, do't think I could handle that for nine months,
Anyway, when you go to see your midwife doing the homebirth, she should tell you about all the appointments you need to go for, most will be done by her.
Do you have a midwife yet?
