View Full Version : Have a look at this work from home job?
Hi all...I cam across this really amazing sounding job for work at home:
http://www.tmd.com.au/www/jobs.asp
I don't work for the company, nor am I affliated with it but since they have a position available in each state I wanted to share it around with my fellow bubhubbers!
I am really interested in applying but want to know the salary range before applying as I will need to factor all that in when considering it...my bubs is only 5 months old and to be honest I wasn't really thinking about going back to work just yet or even ever but it sounds perfect....right down my ally, working from home and everything I have done in the past b4 bubs # 1
Anyone have any experience working for ABC Learning Centres?

I need a job - but on principle I'd rather live paycheck to miserable paycheck than work for ABC learning centres
Why is that? Please tell....I have no idea about the company

I just emailed that position above asking for more info.
I'll let you know more details once i get them.
My boy is at an ABC centre and both he and i love it. I really believe it depends on the individual person running the centre and of course the centre staff. We have had no problems with them at all, i would recommend to all my friends.

LOL - LOL - and another LOL.
A unique opportunity exists to put your exceptional organizational skills to use!! Working autonomously from home
"This is an ideal opportunity for a mum who would like to return to work and work from home."
must be able to travel interstate
Is it just me or does this add personify ABC and it's complete lack of care or thought for the children of working parents ?
I'm surprised they havent thrown in a few small printed conditions like
*all applicants must become or be current ABC clients,
*All applicants must utilize X hours of ABC provided care per week
oh meeeeeeee oh my *bites her tongue* i should really shut up before i start giving them ideas.

Babytoo...they didn't say much else, other than interstate trips can usually be done in one day, at worst you might have to stay 1 night.
Good luck if you go for it.....i have decided not to go for it......i currently work full time and really need the money for the mortgage. I still want part time or to be able to work from home after next baby is born.
Let me know how you go!

maybe they didnt get your email?
I think it's very unfair the way people always bag ABC centres. I used to work in chidcare in a privately owned centre (3 different ones). I have a best friend and a sister who work for ABC. They are looked after at there work a lot better than I ever was at any of my positions at other centres.
I believe that the only reason they get bad press is because they are a bigger company and this makes the media think they have the right to attack them. ABC look after the staff and show more appreciation for their staffs hard work and effort than all 3 of my previous employers put together. They pay above award wages in many instances and reward hard work. They pay for training of their staff (tafe diplomas and uni degrees), provide presents for their staff at xmas as well as paying for a work xmas party for each centre. In all my experience with them they follow staffing guidelines as required (often having more staff than necessary) and there learning programs and centre staff aim to provide a balanced and educational environment for the children in their care.
After having worked in private centres I can tell you that they are often understaffed, they very rarely look after their staff or provide rewards for hard work. The only reason you don't hear bad press about them is because they are small, no one notices. In the sceme of things the problems reported about ABC are no different, they are just made to seem worse because they can all be attributed to one company name.
My advice to any of you thinking of working for ABC, look into it and make your own decision based on speaking to someone about the position. It is no different to applying for a job anywhere else. ABC seem to get bad mouthed a lot, often by people who have no true idea about the issue but jump on the band wagon because it's easy to do. Your decision should be made based on the facts of the position and how it would work for you. So if anyone applies, good luck and hope it works out:)

I'm quite intrigued to hear about ABC centres having a bad name, as I had no idea. Thanks Camcat for speaking up in their defense as you sound like you have a bit of info to back yourself up. I think it's really important to hear both sides of the story. Can anyone explain why they wouldn't recommend ABC (either as a child care centre or employer)? I"m not looking for a job, I just want to know a bit about them for when it comes time to consider care for my DS.

i think it depends on who tells you the info and the aera the centre is in. where i live ABC is popping up everywhere lol which is great coz alot of the centres around here were getting full and the waiting lists are long.
i would recomend you go on a tour of the centre before you decide to enrol. i think there isnt actually that many things wrong with ABC i just think it gets blown out of proportion.

Li'l Mac,
No matter which centre you use you should do a look through and make a choice after looking at a few. Ask them about their learning programs, their staffing, centre policies, fee structure, their menus and basically any other queries you might have. Whether you go with a franchise centre (eg ABC) or a small privately owned one there are good and bad of each as a centre is only as good as it's staff. The most important thing is that when you look around you can meet the staff and are happy with the way they interact with the chn:D.
Hope when the time comes you find the right one:yes:
