View Full Version : Question about Baby Jogger City Mini / Classic

We're heading towards a Baby Jogger City - either the Mini or Classic model.
BUT question: whether it is possible to fit a car capsule to either of these models? The assistant in Babies Galore said no but the US Baby Jogger website seems to sell (an expensive) adaptor and states that it is compatible with a Peg Perego capsule. Does anyone know?
Also, any feedback on the Baby Jogger and in particular, the bassinet would be great. All the reviews I've found online seem to be positive.

I have the Baby Jogger City Mini Double and have been so so happy with it!
I am pretty sure you cannot get the capsule to go with the pram here in Australia - well at least that is what I got told - but they do have the basinette available

Thanks Pices - I like the bassinet (bit pricey) but think the capsule would be much more useful.
The American site says that you can use the same Peg Perego capsule that can be fitted to the Bugaboo and sells adaptors to fit it. Seeing as the capsule is sold here, I'm just wondering why they don't sell the converters or say that you can't fit a capsule?
Any feedback on this Baby Jogger, any model???

Just in case anyone else is looking for this information after me...
I called the Baby Jogger company this morning as the info that I was getting from the Babies Galore shops either contradicted the American website or just didn't make sense.
* The basinet can definitely be fitted to the Baby Jogger City Mini
* The attachments that come with the basinet will also let you fit a car capsule to the frame - in Australia, either Safe n Sound Unity or the Peg Perego Viaggio.
Also, another couple of things I asked - there is a newer model coming out late Dec / mid Jan, which is basically new colours with a slightly bigger basket. And the foot muff that they sell, includes a pram liner which still allows you to use the 'band' for the one-step fold.
We've decided to get this pram so come January I'll be able to let you know how I find it!
You can also buy the car seat attachment separately (ie you don't have to buy the bassinet to get the attachment). This is what we did, and we bought a SnS Unity as it's lighter than the Peg Viaggio.

And the SnS is quite a bit cheaper too!
How much were just the attachments if you don't mind me asking?
It was $80 and I got it from a store that sort of specialises in Baby Joggers. Most of the others didn't know what I was asking about.
I thought the foot muff was overpriced! (As are all BJ accessories). I've been using sleeping bags that allow you to strap them into a harness, and I think Toys R Us has a Kiddopotamus pram liner that still allows easy access to the quick fold strap. Let me know if you think the foot muff is worthwhile, or what other alternatives you find :)

Hi girls..
Hope you don't mind me crashing.
We're in Perth, preggy with #1 and keen on the City Classic but have been trying to get an answer from the baby stores here in W.A. as to whether the Classic with car seat adaptor (& possibly the Mini as a back-up option) suits the SnS Unity....hence my interest in this thread! It sounds like you lovely ladies have done the leg work to find out it does suit the Unity, but I may have a bit of a battle on my hands convincing the baby stores over here cos they have no idea
There's only one store here in Perth at the moment that seems to have a Classic demo model to "road test", which I've yet to do. Any opinions (good or bad) on the Classic vs. Mini??
I think I will call Baby Jogger tomorrow as well & ask for product/model names & numbers for the new Classic, when it's due for release & what the details of the adaptor are so I can order it from a store here in Perth. Or do you think I can order it direct from Baby Jogger??
I'll let you know if I find anything new...thanks so much for the info on this thread such as the kiddopotamus liner etc....

Just a follow up....I called Baby Jogger Australia in Victoria...yes, the City Classic with seat adaptor does suit the Unity Capsule. The City Classic 2009 model also takes the toddler jump seat now. For those interested, Baby World (Osborne Park) & Baby Boom (Nedlands) (both owned by the same family/company) stock the City Classic. We'll be test driving the City Classic in the New Year and that will decide if we go with the City Classic (plus capsule & seat adapator) or Steelcraft Enigma (plus capsule & adaptor). If we go with the Enigma, then we'll upgrade to another stroller (with all terrain wheels) once bubs is out of the capsule.
I hope this info helps anyone else looking at the City Classic....
Hi Gottahavefaith,
Sorry for late reply (seeing as you've already found your answers) but the store which specialises in Baby Joggers that I referred to is Baby Boom / Baby World. The lady who runs the store is lovely and helpful, and knows her Baby Joggers well.
My sister has a Classic and I have a Mini. The Classic has better suspension, but the Mini is much lighter and more portable...as a result, I do take my pram out and about more than she does, she tends to keep it at home for walks around the neighbourhood.
As for the poorer suspension, my baby doesn't seem to complain in the Mini.
In regards to the Enigma capsule, from memory (and I may be totally wrong), the Enigma hood is not as good as the Unity hood (which I really love for shading baby from the sun at all angles)...check it out and good luck :).
Hi all, been reading the posts on this topic - just received delivery on a city mini single and all excited! (3rd pram - hope this is 'the one') Something I have to share and hope you can fill me in... I didn't fully scope out the city mini until i purchased and realised the City Mini doesn't take a toddler seat. I've been in Babies Galore test driving it for 2 weekends before buying and each time I've ignorantly taken off the toddler seat from the other Baby Jogger models and clipped it on the City Mini and it fits. I've even put my 21 month old in it to check if she was comfortable. Am I missing something b/c it seemed to work fine?

Hi there
I know I'm adding to an old thread but thought I'd share what I was told by Baby Land in Perth. I'm expecting twins and wanted the Baby Jogger city mini double with a capsule as so much easier transporting two babies between the house, the car and the stroller.
I've been told that the US and Australia has different regulations and stipulations about stroller safety. That's why Baby Jogger in the US will offer more options to its US customers. Baby Land believes the capsule connection would be flimsy and not safe under Australian standards.
She did suggest the multi option Baby Jogger city select which takes normal seats, bassinetts and capsules. I'm looking at this now and trying to get the right balance between function, value for money and style.
As a first-time mum I had no idea this was such a minefield. Maybe I'll get two cheap 1970's stripey strollers and tie them together with string!! (joke) xxx
