a few months ago i stopped using J&J's shampoo on ds coz it was drying out his scalp and till now i have been using just the huggies sensitive skin body wash on him but this is also drying out his scalp. what can i use on his scalp to help it not dry out?
its not cradle cap.
also we suspect ds has got a ingrown fingernail is there anything i do to stop the pain when he bumps it he is off to the dr's today.

I don't have any suggestions for the fingernail (sounds painful though). But for the head you can use a little bit of olive oil etc (it works on cradle cap too)!
Obviously not heaps in his hair but I would do that and then put an old beany on Ozzy's head.

thanks :) have to get some olive oil today :D
yeah i noticed his fingernail last night. it doesnt seem to bother him unless its touched or bumped. i was going to take him to the dr's anyway the medicine he was prescribed for his chest infection is giving him the runs
As far as shampoo goes, you could try aromababy which you can buy from Target or gaia baby which you can get from health food shops. Both are mild and smell lovely.

are they alright for newborns and sensitive skin? ds's scalp seems to be as sensitive as a newborn lol

I don't know much about Gaia but Aromababy we use on DS who has sensitive skin and it works wonderfully.

Yes both should be fine. Gaia products are certified organic.

Definately look for an alternative to the mainstream brands. They nearly all contain SLS which is a laboratory made foaming agent that will dry skin out. it takes the natural oils out of the skin. The best bet for a bubba is to get a sulphate free shampoo and not to wash his hair too often. Once a week at the absolute most.:)

 anti dandruff shampoo on a bub? wouldnt the chemicals in it irrate their scalp more? i dunno if i would try it on DS he doesnt sit still once anything goes on his head he thinks its time to run away lol i'd be worried about the shampoo getting in his eyes. i learnt a few yrs ago not to get anti-dandruff shampoo in my eyes lol i had a red eye for about a week:laughing:

Ummm, not sure where in Geelong but I have seen them (can't remember, sorry! Damned breastfeeding brain!). sometimes Target stock them. Also, they're often sold in pharmacies - maybe do a bit of a ring around?
