Well yesterday afternoon my husband and I completed our journey as embryo donors, we went through the same clinic as we did for our IVF cycles (lovely people there). I now have my own beautiful family - husband, 2 sons, 1 x step daughter and 1 x step son. And a possible addition into someones family that I am sure will make them extremely happy. At first I thought an annonomous donation was the way we would go but after filling out all of the paper work we ended up ticking the box to say we can be contacted at ANY time should the parents or child/children want to. That was probably my biggest hurdle but I'm pretty sure weve done the right thing after all that child one day will be an adult and will have the same rights in this world that you or I do. Anyway I truly hope that anyone who is waiting or considering good luck with any of your journeys.

Claire, what a beautiful thing you and DH have done, I'm still amazed at the generosity of donors like yourselves. I'm sure it was a big decision to make.
As a recipient of donor sperm and potentially eggs, there just aren't enough words to express how it feels to know there are wonderful people like you out there. It truly is a priceless gift.
I hope your IP's will make contact with you at some point in their journey.

Hi Claire and declan,

Congrats! I myself am interested in donation but I cannot find any good resources for the donar just the recipient. I'm preg at the moment but this is my last. I have so many questions like how much really does it hurt, do they give you anything during the procedure (pain management)?

Hi Claire

That is wondeful news, my DH and I are looking for a donor embryo, you said you went through your clinic. Can you give me some more information about what happened from when you decided to donate your embryo's to the recipient receiving them.

A great big hug to you for being such a caring person.

Hi Moggs

I'm surprised about your lack of information, every IVF site I've visited gives loads of info for donors, because there is such a shortage. The stickys from Cindy also give info, see - wanting to donate eggs? who can donate eggs? and info for potential donors at the top of the first page. I'm sure there are also threads where people have asked about being a donor and lots of info has been added.

good luck with your info search:idea:

Hi Claire

Each time I hear things like this, I am just so amazed to know that there are wonderful people like you and your husband who selflessly want to help others achieve their dreams of a family. It is just such a generous and amazing thing to do, giving other couples the chance of holding a bundle of joy in their arms. If it wasn't for the generosity of donors, then couples like myself & my husband may never be able to realise our dreams and experience the wonderful rewards of parenthood that you can only experience when you have a family.

I do hope too one day, that the intended IP's will contact you and your husband.

As far as where or who our little potential babies go is not actually up to us. As I said the clinic we went through is great, has some of the highest sucess rates in the country and has great doctors. They are the ones who decide who the recipients will be, I think its an allround decision - time on waiting lists, what you background is etc. Warren is from indian decent and I am corcasion so our precious ones actually end up quite dark, so obviously they will go to someone in the same circumstance otherwise there would be too many questions from the child/children as they grow up about their colouring. I hope one day I will meet the recipients whether the outcome be successful or not, but obviously that is ultimately their decision and not ours.
We had to fill out a big personal profile about our interests, dislikes, talents all sorts so that they have some idea of the people we are, anyway just hope everything works out for them, I could be a bit bias but who ever they are they will have beautiful children as all of my husbands children are georgous I suppose its the skin colour I am gelous of, I'd kill to have a tan like them (ha ha). Anyway if anyone has any questions just fire away cause I am more than happy to chat (I actually put that down as one of my talents - talking), hopefully they have a sense of humor.
