View Full Version : Anyone using/familiar with Bellamys organic?

I have recently weaned fully BF dd2 onto onto Bellamys organic formula. However neither my GP and the paed have heard of it, my GP was openly dubious and the paed said she couldn't recommend or warn me against it cos she had only heard of it a month ago.
Seems a bit strange. Are they just being cautious? Surely it can't be on the market unless it has passed certain standards, or am i being naive?
Does anyone know anything about it, or where I might find more info? Thanks

This is one of my favourite baby related subjects :)
Ok, I, to put it bluntly, would marry the person who invented this stuff! It's Australian made (right down there in Tasmania) and my DS had so many problems with other formulas giving him wind pains and other issues.... literally while during the first bottle he started releasing wind and we have never looked back.
And if you want info then go no further than their website - and what you can't find on there give them a call. I rang up and ended up chatting to the lady who answered the phone (not even put through to someone) for about 45 minutes about all sorts of baby related products, where I could get it from, she gave me grocery codes for my local shops so I can call and see if they have it in stock instead of searching.
Another friend has just had to wean her bubs due to returning to work and her baby was refusing the bottle... she tried bellamy's and bubs is now much better. The poos are also very consistant with breast milk poos.
Love it!

I use it and it is FANTASTIC! I actually tasted it and I swear it is not that bad- kinda sweet not a lot unlike breastmilk. I have tried the others (S26 etc, and they taste terrible). My baby is thriving on this formula, she is never constipated, her poos are almost of the same consistency as breast milk poos. She was constipated on Nan.
I think you need to tell your doctors to do some updated research!

We used it and it made dd spew. I'm still trying to find a formula that's right for my baby.

I am wanting to go onto this when I stop expressing at 6 months (1 month to go, YAY).
I asked my paed and he said they are all as good as each other - that they have to past very strict tests to be on the market. He said the only reason S26 is the most common is that they give the best discount to hospitals- so everyone sees it there and thinks it's the best.
Is B Organic expensive compared to regular?
We use it with great success! When compared to other formulas the quantity of ingredients doesn't seem to be as good but, as already mentioned, it produces BF poos so I think that says a lot!

Thanks everyone for your replies, much appreciated. However the original issue is now not an issue anymore as dd2 is getting very constipated on it. She cried her littel eyes out today after a poo, poor little thing ...
So I'm switching her to Nan HA gold which have have heard a lot of people say on here was very good, also recommended by my paed... tho not sure what to make of that as she had never heard of bellamys?!
Anyway, thanks again

Sorry to hear your little one is getting constipated on this formula OP.
I can't speak about the formula as I was never able to use it, but their baby rice cereal and oat cereal is absolutely fantastic. :)

my DD is BF but when I have to go out and cant feed her she loves the Bellamys organic. It doesnt upset her tummy, seems the most compariable to bf poos etc. I have no issues giving her BM and the organic formula.
