Hi,

My 3 1/2 month old has just started having feeding problems. Poppy was on S26 Gold up until 4 weeks ago when she was getting constipated all the time and really bad reflux! but on S 26 she would drink all of her bottles! So I changed the formula to Karicare. She seemed to be doing fine with it and she was also taking Gaviscon Infant for her reflux.

The recommended bottles are 200mls - 5 bottles a day. Now she is on Karicare she has been only drinking 100 - 150mls a feed and barely drinking 80mls with her 5th bottle at the end of the night. She also screams during feeds and will not take the bottle.

She is sleeping alot more too which is weird for her. Poppy used to only nap 3 times a day for on'y 1 hour at the most per sleep. Now she is sleeping for 2 hours after every feed! Sometimes she even falls asleep during her bottle.

Could this just be that the new formula is filling her up more??????

Please some thoughts would be appreciated!

The amount she is drinking wouldn't concen me as long as she is still putting on weight. My DS Never drunk as much as he should.
With the crying it could be her reflux getting worse. For some reason with both my kids it got worse at around 3 mths. You could try the Karicare AR (thickned formula) and if she is still crying all the time get her checked by a Dr, you may need other medication for her reflux.
Good luck
Hope things settle down soon

My DS got worse at three months. I thought they were supposed to get better at three months. I put him on thickened formula and that helped him feed better but he was still unsettled until I put him on zantac and now all is well.

I just noticed that you also posted about the bottles. I had problems also with DS and had to put him onto the faster flow teats (#4 avent).
I would visit your GP as Poppy's troubles sound like my DS's silent reflux which settled with Zantac.

I actually had the same problem with Bailey at 3 1/2 months too. I thought it was early teething because he was off his bottles and would pull away and thrash around when feeding. He done that for about 1 week then went back to normal

I didnt know about Silent Reflux, but possible thats what it was:confused:
