I ended up choosing Childbirth International because I can do all the theory work online or via correspondence. They also had a combined Doula/Childbirth Educator course which really appealed to me. I was really impressed with their set-up and they do have a very good support system despite not having a "face to face" workshop component. Alot of the other courses looked excellent too, and I have heard great things about them but they didn't have their workshops scheduled for times that suited me (or were in the wrong state!) and I really just wanted to get the ball rolling.
Having said all that, since signing up with CBI I have also attended two workshops (6 days all up) which are the face-to-face requirements for DONA certification as a Doula, and Lamaze Certification as a Childbirth Educator. I will also get my Doula certificate through DONA and maybe in the future pursue the Lamaze qualification too.
