My DS2 was born with a head FULL of hair. Now he is 4 months its so ridiculously long it hangs in his eyes and is down past his shoulders. Me and DP want to cut it short or shave it to a number 4/5.
Does anyone know if it damages their hair cutting it so early?

We cut DD's fringe at 4 months because it was hanging in her eyes.
I don't like your chances of being able to shave the hair of a wriggly 4 month old baby though.
It was hard enough to cut DD's fringe.
Damages the hair or the follicle?
The hair shaft is made of dead protein so cutting or clipping it won't affect it in the least. Since you don't intend to shave your bub bald with a razor there is no risk to his hair follicles or skin either. :)
Don't shave it! Baby hair is soo cute!! Maybe give it a little trim...
What if he gets scared of the shaver when your half done and won't let you do anymore, you will have a half bald baby, hehr

I wouldn't shave it. But trimming it is doable if you are very nimble! :D
We had to cut DD's fringe at about that age, and need to do it pretty regularly. She has masses of hair. I find it easiest to pop her in her high chair and give her a book or something like that to distract her.

How much does it cost to get a 4 months hair cut? I still haven't taken my daughter who was born with a whole head of hair and is almost 2. All I do is cut the back in the bath when it is wet and for her fringe (since she hates people near her face and I worry about a stranger with scissors) I put it into a pony tail then have a guess as to how much should be cut off and cut with one snip. So far it has worked pretty well.
Good luck at the hairdressers. My last visit to the hairdressers was horrible. A baby was getting it's hair cut (think they were shaving it) and it screamed the place down because it was very distressed. I was so upset by it I have no intention of having my son's hair cut anytime soon & his hair is quite long.

All three of mine have needed haircuts really young.
DD1 was 3 months
DD2 was 4 months
DD3 was 7 months (I held off as long as I could)
They are usually only about $10-$15 to get it done, however it depends on the hairdresser.

Yet another jealous one here, My DS has a little hair but nothing needing cutting and DD has practically none. I hope he cooperates at the hairdressers.

Aww I love baldy babies! My DS1 was a baldy. I thought he would never get hair but he certainly caught up!
I cant remember who asked how much a kids haircut costs but I took DS1 once and it was only $10 and it was a really good job!
