Not a how to thread, more of a how do YOU thread.

Do you hug your bub all night?
Do they have their own space?
etc

With us, I start out hugging MJ as she sleeps better, but i do try to roll over occasionally as my arm ends up very sore & numb  We do have the cot as a side car but it never gets used, only of a morning, MJ will go over to the cot, sit in it & hug her bears & read a book to herself

Vallerie gets to choose whose bed she wants to go to sleep in, mine or hers. Most nights she chooses hers, but if she's a bit sad or over-tired she'll want to cuddle in my bed. In that case, I hop into the bed with her and we cuddle for, oh about 30 seconds :D and she goes to sleep. Then when DH comes to bed he puts her in her own bed. I either stay there with her or get up and do housework, depending on how tired I am.
For Curtis, we have a side car, he goes in there after he's had his night-nappy put on, got his jarmies on, and has finished cluster feeding, so round about 9pm-ish (sometimes earlier). He stays in there until the next feed, which is usually around midnight - but lately he's had a couple nights where he sleeps through until 3 or 4am :smiliedance: !! After that next feed I will put him back in the side-car if he's fast fast asleep, but if he's had enough to eat but isn't asleep yet, he just lays on my chest or over my shoulder while I'm in bed. Usually I'm half-sitting up so my neck is permanently cricked these days.... but last night he lay next to me on the bed, with the idea that I was going to gently push him over onto the side-car after he was asleep but I fell asleep too.

Firstly what is a side car, i have never heard of this?? With Josh he is usually in his cot most of the night but will wake up once or twice, usually when he wakes up the second time around 5-6am i will him in bed with us and just lay on my side with my arm out and his head on my shoulder. Gets a bit uncumfy, but allows me time to have more sleep! :D

One side of the cot is removed & the cot is right up against the bed, so that its like an extension of the bed. If anyone can explain it better please do :o

Tom sleeps in his cot till about 5-6am then wakes for a feed, so I bring im back to bed with me, and go back to sleep while he feeds! Once he's finished he usually rolls over and cuddles up to his daddy :D

That is what I was looking for actually.
We have a portacot which my baby prefers:rolleyes:
But when we co -sleep its just usually however baby falls asleep usually on the breast.
With the older 2 they just jump in the family bed and yell at Dad to join them!
Though it just varies - no rhyme or reason in our house just chaos!
In a dream world we would have a gigantic bed or a few beds in a huge room!

Luca usually starts off in his Amby hammock if i can be bothered trying to get him settled in there if not, he starts off in our bed between us. Either way he always ends up spending most of the night in our bed, he just lies between our pillows but i put him up a bit higher so the balnkets/pillows dont cover him.

I tried to talk DH into having a 'bed room' ie- everyone's beds and having the boys rooms as toy/study/ whatever but he wouldn't have a bar of it.

We have four in the bed, yes we are completely nuts.
DS loves to spread out so DH and I usually end up at either end with him lying right across the middle. DD side cars in her snuggle bed, in her cot until about 5am when she wakes for a feed and then she snuggles with me on my side away from the two big boofs.
I'm a bit sad about it but we are going to get Oliver into his big bed soon. It's a little much with him at the moment.:(

DS starts out in his bed, when he wakes at about 10-11ish we put him in our bed, where he burries himself in my arms! Its so cute, but I have to roll over when he is fast asleep or my arms ache!!

If co sleeping with a bubs and I dont have them in my arms, I make sure my pillow and head are lower than theirs, this way there is no chance of me accidently pulling the blankets up over their head, with my older kids, they sleep with me whenever DH is on night shift, and its just basically find a spot and snuggle in! :D

Before Hamish arrived both our children started the night in their own beds and sometime during the night they would both make their way into ours. It usually ended up with one adult and one child (sounds like a ticket to somewhere! ) at one end and the other two at the other end. We worked on them spending more time in their own beds as Hamish's birth grew imminent as I didn't feel sharing with a newborn and two children would work out.
So now, Hamish starts out in our bed after his last feed, about 6pm, and then I pop him in his cot beside me when I go to bed. He wakes anywhere between 2-4 times a night for top-up feeds so I lift him by the front of his pj's (my back can't take the bend and lift thing too much) and pop him into bed with us. When he has finished I usually stir and put him back into his cot. He actually likes putting himself to sleep in his cot, so I just follow his lead really.
DD has, since Hamish arrived, made her way to our room but we have a spare cot mattress on the floor and she normally brings her doona and curls up there. Come morning, around 5.30-6 am, it's all five of us squishing about in there!:D

Eve has a feed in our bed and then when she falls asleep we put her into her cot(in her room) this means hubby and I get to have a little bit of a cuddle without being pushed out of the bed:D

At about midnight (i think) she comes into our bed as we have lowered the rail on her cot so she can just jump out and come into us when she wakes. Now I dont even notice when she comes in; she just crawls in between us and pulls the blankets up although hubby says that he sees her come in sometimes and she is so excited practically falling over herself down the hall to get to us.

All works well.....
that is until I wake in the morning to her routine acrobatic workout:smiliedance: starjumps across the bed, feet in my face and belly flops onto my stomach ( oh well at least she is happy to start the day:) )

Ok picture this. One queen size bed, beautifully made up, one 16 month old spread out perfectly in the middle, and one mummy balancing on the edge of her side! By 7am I am usually sleeping across the foot of the bed! I tried to put her back in her cot after she started snoring but now if I even step in her room she screams. Hmm maybe I can just turn it into a study?

Eliza sleeps level with my boob lol I wear a warm top so the blankets are just over my legs and she's in her sleeping bag she just lays next to me/us At first I cradled her in my arms but as time goes on we are all just aware of each other she sleeps the nights in her own bed now though as my hips have been sore and I need to move more often!

Chelsea (9mo) sleeps inbetween us in her own space (HUGE!), because we (me + her) both sleep on our tummy's and she really moves around a lot. Sometimes she ends up sideways. When she wakes during the night she is cuddled and resettled and falls asleep either with her head on my pillow with her face smushed up against mine or snuggled against my breast. She then rolls away herself and I reposition her into her posse.

Cot's are pretty stable things, I can barely move my one and I have the caster wheels on it :o

To Topic:
DD and I shared a queen bed, so not too many problems. I liked having her cuddle and resting her head on my arm - The arm numbness I'm used to as I had a cat for 16years who slept like that!! lol
DD used to sleep next to me all night, but recently I've successfully moved her into the cot and now only comes back about 6/7am for a feed and further sleep! LOL
It's still not terribly nice waking up to hair being pulled or her trying to claw my eyes out...

The cot is jammed between the bed & the wall  But thats going to have to change soon. We borrowed the cot off a friend & her daughter is no pg so we'll be loosing it soon

I co-sleep with my DS when DH is working night shift. DS usually takes up 3/4 of the bed and I am left to the other 1/4.;)

We are in a one bedroom apartment in Hollywood California... until we move home to OZ in 6 weeks YAY:smiliedance:
As I mentioned in another thread... my wee snapper DS is 8 months old.. but from the beginning he's been in his own crib in our room...I was too worried that my snoring/heavy sleeping/tossing/turning DH would shmoosh the wee man and that because I'm a light sleeper I'd be constantly snapping awake to check on DS... but now that DS is teething he'll come into bed with us from about 4-6am till about 7am.. for a first BF of the day and a cuddle and snooze...I love it... but sometimes I can't get back to sleep (I think this is just me but also residual pregnancy sleeping habits - I was getting up at 4:30am sometimes while preg. coz I couldn't sleep )
so I usually get up and check internet, drink tea and let DS and DH snore away the morning together...
