Well after alot or time and research i have finally biten the bullet and started my own business :smiliedance:

I've decided to design and screen print fitted t-shirts. There's a huge shortage and demand for what i'm doing !!! :yelclap: DH is very supportive which is fantastic and he is also very excited about it which i am to but on the other hand i'm extremely nervous. What if it doesn't work out ? what if i have wasted all my time and energy for nothing ? could i be spending my time else where like with the kids ? DH is working his **** off for good money but i want to do my share aswell even with his recent promotion and payrise in place. Should i just be concerntrating strickly on the kids ? am i worrying over nothing ??

Wish me luck, i think i may need it !

oh also, just wondering if anyone is doing something simular would be great to share techniques.

I think it's an awesome idea. Hey if you did some black shirts with the kind of tribal stuff, like tatts, I would totally buy one! So tired of itty bitty pretty shirts. Gone are the days of bonds shirts and comfy clothes!!

umm.. not too sure just yet, i suppous i could depending on the demand for them.
I know there is a company doing that atm as far as i know, not to sure what the copyrights would be on them.. would deffinatly have to look further into that regarding maternity shirts.

Yes there are a couple of company's printing slogan maternity t's but they are really really expensive. I am sure that as long as you came up with your own slogans it would be okay.;)

come to think about it the price isn't too bad concidering actual maternity tops are expensive... i know plain pumpkin patch materinty t's are around $40 then having to make the stencils + materials ie. fabric paint ect.. I dont think i could find a plain label wholesaler that makes maternity tops :detective:

As long as they were reasonably priced I think you'd be okay. I used to love wearing the shirts with statements and such when they actually applied! Now all the ones in Supre and the like definitely do not suit a mother of two! If you can get a few catchy/funny ones related to mums I think you'd be on a winner. Perhaps do a few and try them out on ebay before you start spending serious $$.

Go for it! Why not? If it's something you want to do, or at least try, you'll always wonder "what if", if you don't give it a go.

I like k15s's idea about trying them out on eBay (I love eBay!)

Hi there,

Your idea sounds cool. I have screenprinted for over 15 years and my partner and I now have our own screen printing business. If you need any info I'm sure I can help, plus i'm in QLD so I'm sure we wouldn't be a threat to eachother business wise!

Jones brothers www.jonespt.com.au print technology is based in VIC and they stock really good screen printing supplies (Union Ink) Wilflex ink is another goody but dearer i think and not sure where your closest supplier would be. Jones stock and supply Fotec emulsions and solvents also which are a good brand. You will need a decent A4 Laser printer to print you positives, the laser are dearer to buy but the film far cheaper to buy. If you have an inkjet though you can make do for the time being, the film will be a little dearer though, Tartan is a good film around $40 for a box of 50 for inkjet. You also need to check into curing of the ink. We have curer tunnel but of course they are a bit costly if you are just starting off. I think you can completely cure with flash units, but i'm not too sure.

LW Reid in Sydney sell really good quality shirts, reasonably priced. www.lwreid.com.au i think.

Anyhow, you may already know all this stuff, or some of it may not even make sense! Let me know and Ill endeavour to help if I can,

best of luck

Lisa :-)
