View Full Version : best agency for boys
Hey there
Ive read some of your posts, but to mums with older children, especially boys, how did you fare?
I have an interview with BRats and with ****** for my 10 year old boy later this week. What are your experiences? one charges up front, the other doesnt, but then you have to pass a course and pay for your own photos... whats better?
thanks!

Hello,
I have just joined today. But my son Beau who is 2 and a half is a model with Bambini. He only started about a month ago. But they seem really nice and he liked the staff they were very patient and friendly. I had to pay a yearly fee up front but I did get a copy of the photos for free. I just hope he gets some work. He just loves the camera. Most agency's don't guarentee work.
They have a website it is **********************
Hope this has helped.

the agent that asks you to "pass a course", or "complete a workshop" are ensuring that your child is what they are looking for, that your child is photgenic and has some acting ability. They obviously do not want to waste their time (or yours) with a child they are not confident that they can get work for.
All adult actors/models have to regulary pay for and update their portfolio.
This would be the agnecy that I would go for.
(We did, and my son is now auditioing for a mini series!)

Well we went to the interveiws.. one first impressions both seemed ultra busy (read rushed but thats okay)
Agency A had a nice office with lots of models on the walls, eith a good deal going with the course and paying for half of photos (you get to choose your phtog) but appearances arent everything and would there be extra costs involved after completing the course ? They also guarantee your investment back (how can they do that?) Have to do more research...
Agency B seemed a bit dodgy.. the guy seemed very knowledgable but a bit arrogant, though i liked his honesty (he said my older one was gorgeous but was shy and should join up but also get drama lessons) Some of the things he said seemed a bit contradictory, like he wont be back until march and theres no catalogue work in Brisbane, the office looked unprofessional and the child catalogues on display very out of date, and when we said we were keen but wed get drama lessons first, he was very quick to brush us off very coolly (but then he had heaps of people waiting for interviews downstairs) My impression was that it was a bit "get the numbers in the door" but I could be wrong!
Maybe Im just too sceptical. I dont know! Whats anyone elses recent impressions?

I used to do acting and modelling when I was in my late teens, early twenties. I asked some of the agents I used to deal with about getting my bubby into the agencies and what they thought about it. They did say there is not alot of work for babies in Brisbane so that agent may be right about the catalogue work. Also, they told me not to pay any money to get my baby represented because they were out to rip people off.
I know with modelling agencies, my mum wanted me to join because she had been a model. She went in with me and they joined me up and didn't charge me a fee or make me do a course. They just put me on thier books and I used to get sent out for castings. It should really be the same for babies but from what I hear they want an arm and a leg before you even start.
One casting agent told me to not pay a cent to those agencies, she told me she would hold my boys photos for nothing on her file if anything came up. That was about 3 months ago and I've never heard anything so I'm glad I didn't pay anything. Anyway, the agencies I used to know warned me to be careful with the child agencies. I hope that information doesn't upset anyone who has paid.

Thanks to all the info about agencies, i was looking at signing my 10 month old bub up but if there isn't alot of work in bris then i guess it really isn't worth all the time and money doing so.
