Attadale Private or Mandurah hospital??

heyas even though i am very early and not due till march i was just wondering if anyone had experiences with these hospitals & midwives???
i live between both, with both my girls i had them at coastal private but now that they have decided to shut the maternity wing i have no choice but to look around :banghead:
im about 25mins from mandurah & 40 from attadale so really distance means nothing. my doc doesnt go to mandurah but at the same time he missed my last daughters birth and he was only 5minutes away! so theres no guarantee he'll be there this time so im pretty much expecting a midwife birth but i dont want a **** one.

any help would be great!

Iwent to Murdoch but a lot of my Mothers Group went to Attadale and have very good stories to tell. Sorry can't comment on Mandurah. But if your OB doesn't attend one hospital do you really have a choice? I thought unless you are public so have no OB of your own choice, you have to have the baby at one of the hospitals your chosen Dr will deliver at.

i think because i doubt my doc will make it anyway i would swap if the midwives were better at mandurah, i think i would prefer attadale though. i might just do a booking in with both. is that possible??

Im not sure if you can double book yourself but does your ob deliever at Attadale? If he/she delivers at Murdoch that would be even closer to you. You need to find out where he/she delievers at first. But like you said you can always just change ob's. I have had no personal experience at either though from most things i hear (through various friends etc) i would be more inclined to deliever at Attadale. My ob works from there & he prefers to work with Attadle middy's rather than some other hospital midwifes.. I hope this helps a little:)

found out my doc delivers at st john and attadale. so i guess theyre my choices if i want him.

Before you decide go to the hospitals and visit the Maternity sections and meet the midwives. Both offer free tours just ring up and they will tell you when to come in. When I toured St John of God at Murdoch it was on a Sunday and I think they run every week. I know Attadale does them too. Then you can have a look around and feel comfortable with your choice after making a comparison.
